Gainsborough Trough3 Oct 2022 12:32
Looking back in here after a little while out, but I notice that the recent BGS survey makes more positive noises about the Gainsborough Trough given its less complex geology...
P17 - "Other areas (e.g.,the Gainsborough Trough that extends between Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and Welton,
Lincolnshire; Palci et al., 2020, or the Cleveland Basin, North Yorkshire) have a simpler geology
in terms of stratigraphy and structure and may therefore be easier to characterise"
P41 - "Collectively, this results in some areas, including the Bowland, Gainsborough and Cleveland basins, remaining exploration targets in terms of resource, whilst other areas may appear less attractive."
Shale/fracking is going to be a slog I think, but at least we have a "world class resource" in an area the BGS considers one of the more attractive areas for exploration.
