Appreciated - certainly plausible.
So as you point out, the RNS said the raise was to bridge operational expenses, yet in his subsequent interview AP made no mention of paying outstanding tax and indeed left me, at least, with the firm impression it was to pay salaries.
If it has indeed been used to pay tax (reasonable I think), then it does beg the question, have we paid salaries? If not, then it raises the prospect of further strike action at the mine. If we have, then with what?
I know some will think I’m entirely negative about Vast. I’m not. It has great potential if it can sort its finances. That may come from the “Swiss”, who we know very little about, is seemingly delayed, and of course we have no idea of the terms of how it might affect shareholders. Currently my views are;
- Great potential if we can get through this mess
- Dealing with a labour dispute using insolvency laws seems very odd, and I don’t think paints the full picture.
- Don’t understand why anyone would bail us out at a premium to the price, as AP intimated, unless there was a significant kicker for them, and worry what that might mean for us.
Am sick of AP comments in interview and RNS which may have a very small element of truth but is mainly spin.
