you need to know more than a little something to make statements about employment law :
1. Seasonal workers can claim redundancy pay if their seasonal work is regular - in that they work a season each year. A case of potato pickers was judged and entered into tort three years ago.
2. Staff already under notice who leave earlier than their termination date are still entitled to statutory redundancy pay.

there is no possibility of you being able to calculate what savings, if any, may be made due to fluctuation in material prices unless you are part of the Thorntons procurement team or work closely with them. You do not know their procurement contractual obligations or pricing structures.
So I say again the final accounts will tell and nothing else.
