Standard Life selling, their property fund related policies and some other products have been severely affected by the present Covid-19 pandemic.
The property funds have been suspended and future contributions transferred to other more appropriate products (?)for the foreseeable future, maturing policies will be honoured, but if policy holders want to cash in early its a case of joining a long queue !
Possibly Standard are selling some stock to raise some cash, after all desperate times call for desperate measures!

Never rated Aberdeen after my experience with them leading up to and during the dot.com crash, didn't trust them after that!

its really sad,also worrying that despite having 24/7 news and the opportunity via their smart technology to search or question the facts they remain blissfully ignorant of the truth and instead fall for the spoon fed the strategically written and politically biased propaganda fed to them by the government.
Most of the plebs can't seem to understand that when on facebook or using google so much the information they receive has been algo tailored via their past searches to give them the answers they have ready decided on ,rather than the actual true facts!

Its very depressing really that the UK is now in a very bad place, the government obviously intends to drop out of Europe without a deal and Boris will try too blame the EU for the financial and social consequences, no doubt so many of the public will fall for it, post Covid the UK can forget trade deals with the rest of the world, Trump has ruled out China, so the UK becomes dependant on the US an its chlorinated Chicken!
Of course when the UK economy collapses, austerity measures are imposed and the money printing gains momentum it should be good for the POG, but in those circumstances is it right to rejoice?

There are those who have no real belief or real commitment to a chosen investment, but have a deep desire to appear to be an authority or expert to others who really have some skin in the game ( i.e. their own money rather then leveraged funds, even no funds at all, just wishful thinking ), and as we all know hindsight is a great thing!
Resistance lines.charts,annalists massaged reports to paying clients, flawed central government fiscal policy .etc all based on what's happened in the past and what may or may not happen in the future, chuck the charts in the bin and the leverage with them!
Leverage and the desire for fluidity ( or uncertainty, lack of commitment & integrity) are the scourges of our modern society and why our society is in the mess it is and so ill prepared to cope with the present crisis .
As some on here have already highlighted the magic money printing and FED spin to prop up the stock market merry go around can't go on forever and neither can the flawed policies or the lying of so many governments before it all comes crashing down again.
In contrast Centamin is a decent company with integrity that is actually doing what it promised i.e. delivering real bullion(not paper contacts) whilst paying the Egyptian government its share and its share holders a good dividend.

This why the POG was hammered, any excuse to push up the Dow, things are bad in the US but these the figures weren't quite as bad as anticipated, it's amazing how the market manipulators can interpret even bad news around to suit their own purpose.

Don't worry though gold will rebound and soon it will be realised that Centamin has indeed turned a corner and has been doing very nicely, even with POG at this level.

Thanks Mr Cherry bum for you thoughts, I will stick with a company that actually delivers a decent dividend rather than promises of what may never be delivered!
Lets wait and see what happens over the next six months or so before getting too depressed!

This report by Endeavour is only fit to use to line a cat’s litter tray or to put it in the bottom of a Budgies cage!
Note the slide where they show all Endeavour mines to have lower AISC cost than Sukari. Yet, the company never paid a dividend. It shows you how a mining company can bull sh*t using AISC metrics!

It is of course entirely your decision who to invest with, although you can be reassured that you made the choice of a company with an ethical conscience, integrity, no debt, excellent long term assets, very promising prospects and untapped potential that is already delivering on its promises and paying a dividend!

You are also a member of most probably the best informed Centamin forum on the net, although it is also worth remembering that not everyone who pops up on here from time to time is who they claim to be, some have ulterior agenda's and motives which was very apparent during the Endeavour attempt to carpet bag Centamin, if they had succeeded it would have been a very sad day indeed for Centamin and its share holders , not to mention the dividend!

I spoke to a very well informed contact of mine regarding this, see their opinion below -

I would be very cautious towards what Aton says, and what is the reality!
They claimed to have a mining license when they didn't and they had to publicly row back from that position. I am not aware of their cash position either, but suspect it won't be close enough to the $300m+ costs of building even a very modest sized gold mine.

Keep an eye on them though!

Not at all sore, but not so long back we experienced the underhand tactics by Endeavour to try and get its hands on the superior reserve assets of Centamin, not to mention to mention its cash reserves.
Having targets is all well and good but actually achieving them is more difficult especially, if the mines ore grades aren't that good and the bandits keep harassing the workers and stealing the swag!
If Endeavour can pay off their huge debts, discover some new reserves and actually start to deliver the 10/15 million oz they may start paying a dividend some time in the future, that is assuming that the bandits don't raid the mine too many times or hold it to ransom.
No wonder Endeavour were so keen to try and get Centamin on the cheap, a far superior company operating in a far more stable environment with superior long term reserves that is already delivering on its promises and paying its share holders a very respectable dividend.

Certainly wouldn't touch Endeavour with a barge pole, no example to follow, heavily hedged,far too much debt, clapped out mines in zones of unrest and a CEO that speaks with forked tongue!

I suspect some newer members or lurkers who have recently appeared on there are so used to the way that most other share discussion forums behave that they find it difficult to understand we behave differently on this Centamin forum, as Tiger stated it should be regarded rather like that favourite table in the corner of our favourite local, something very special indeed ,especially during these difficult times.
If *****iness and sniping towards fellow members whilst trying to ban or censure free expression of opinion and the discussion of the effects that world wide events ,including political policy and public sentiment have on the Centamin share price, then this is not the forum to be on.
I could advise forums that are much better suited to the needs of those that desire to brag about their successes whilst sniping at other members who may have admitted a mistake, or even asked a reasonable question, however out of respect for this unique forum and to the good people of the LSE who facilitate it I shall decline to do so.

Quite so, unfortunately recent events have clearly demonstrated that our present government and certainly the clown in No 10 are as unfit for office as the lunatic in the White House.

Until there is some new news released then Centamin will just move up and down with the POG, if you note the sells are mostly automatic so the price has just been pushed through the stop's by market reaction to world events.
