well to be honest amateur or not...a lot of people will not have seen this yet with it coming out at such a time....so the fact I have got back in cheaply, I am not complaining LOL
as this will be heading one way once the news sinks in
Excellent sample size at 2000 patients too so much more reliable findings! I am back in.

2,000 patient c linical trial using Novacyt's near-patient testing system initiated in London care homes
Paris, France and Camberley, UK - 22 July 2020 - Novacyt ( EURONEXT GROWTH: ALNOV; AIM: NCYT ), an international specialist in clinical diagnostics, notes the initiation of a clinical trial by Queen Mary University of London using the Company's innovative near-patient testing system. The study is investigating whether daily COVID-19 testing reduces the infection rate, morbidity and mortality in the high-risk care home population.
The randomised clinical trial, recruiting up to 2,000 residents in 50 care homes across east London, is being led by Professor Jo Martin, President of the Royal College of Pathologists and Professor of Pathology at Queen Mary University of London. The study is using a mobile or near-patient testing (NPT) system for COVID-19 developed by Novacyt (further detail below), which comprises the Company's COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, direct-to-PCR RNA extraction kit (exsig(TM) Direct), and portable testing instruments (Q16 and Q32 instruments), to ensure reliable results are received within an hour of testing.
The clinical trial team comprises researchers, medical students and laboratory experts from Queen Mary and Novacyt. Daily testing, using Novacyt's NPT system, is being trialled for residents, staff and visitors in 25 care homes. As the comparator, the other 25 care homes will receive standard central laboratory testing once a week.
As part of the clinical trial, the effectiveness of mid-nose nasal swabs compared to invasive nasopharyngeal swabs will be evaluated to support ease of use, lower levels of discomfort and demonstrate more reproducible data.
Professor Jo Martin, Professor of Pathology at Queen Mary University of London, and lead investigator of the
study , commented :
"This work has the potential to bring a new rapid COVID-19 testing system to those at highest risk and help interrupt community transmission. If found to be successful in care homes, it could be very useful in a wide range of settings, helping to make a quick diagnosis and keep an environment free of COVID-19.
"With rapid daily testing, we can report back to the care home on the same day, so that they can take action to reduce transmission in their care home and prevent outbreaks into the wider community. By undertaking this study in the diverse East London community, we're hoping to protect one of the most vulnerable groups in the UK, and the frontline staff who are caring for them."

Agreed
I think that from the first meeting, it is likely Velocys get another government mention. It was Grant Schnapps who mentioned Velocys last time and the share price went from 5/6 up to 16p. I know because last time I bought in at 2.5p while this was a sleeping giant and sold out too early!.
There is definitely something underfoot. Either a government mention in next few days on Velocys and this new task force or an announcement on BA or Shell on their financial backing increase to greener air fuel.
I think the SP will reveal more over the next week. Personally it is worth giving it some time as with past experience the movement comes days or even a week after the good news so do not be caught out. It is a share that can go days with one or two trades and then the next you can see heavy buying pressure over a few weeks. Very strange share but intriguing nonetheless!
Yesterday I purely followed the money. 12M buy stood out on my level 1 watch list like a sore thumb. I just hope that money was smart money LOL.

This SP is a bit of a funny one. Tends to take a dip initially on any news and then either kicks in during the afternoon or in the following few days. The SP certainly turned bullish from the middle of last week when it was testing placing prices. But now it seems to be pushing up a little bit more each day and the MMs seem to be letting the SP recover ahead of news.
So I see us pushing towards the 1.80-2£ mark as we approach news. We all know that it will be hard to stay over £2 without news so might see a retrace from there.
I think we are back in exciting times and I am feeling happier after todays announcement. I always kept a position in Avacta as always believed it has big potential but will now look to top up on any dips. Given the market sentiment is very strong around Covid19 progress at the moment - we say it with SNG and Midatech in last few days. If we are able to get meaningful accuracy numbers out in the next week or two - we could see an SP inflection point that the brokers have been talking about.

I do not believe this would be to help optimisation. This will be past that point.
This will be to help validate the accuracy on a wider sample size to get it approved as far as I understand.
But others can correct me if I am wrong
*worth billions not one billion
TGoodland,
That is the great thing. Avacta are not a one trick pony.
The have several irons in the fire.
Take a look at what they were working on before Covid19. That work will progress later this year. And they were savvy enough to tuck away £30M of the £40M raised for that work which is ground breaking in targeted treatment of cancer.
So this company will be work billions not once...once it proves its concepts on a number of things. The NOW crisis of Covid19 and the existing work too.
The posters on this board are well researched. It is not over confidence on their side. Rather lack of knowledge and research on yours.
Had this company been dual listed on the US - this would already be valued at over $1bn as they US give more value to the ground breaking work Avacta is doing.

As well as good progress on Adeptrix. The key take away is this for those awaiting the rapid testing update.
Alistair confirms we will use CONDOR to test the rapid testing strip too.......
We wouldn't be doing that if we didn't have a strong strip to validate ^ ^
So I expect a steady rise ahead of concrete accuracy numbers on the testing strip.

There is no reason for the SP bouncing much at the moment unless there is a background seller taking profits. There is a reason for it to move towards the bottom of the offer range. Right now it is being held back. It won't keep bouncing, eventually it will move up towards the low end of the likely offer. So trading this comes with its risks that if you are out when it finally does move up you will have missed quite a bit of upside.
If the offers come in then the bottom end is 30-35p but I can't see that being accepted.
The higher end is 60-65p.
Personally I do not see any thing below 50p being accepted but I could be wrong. Of course if it went over the top end of those ranges then everyone would be happy. I agree the long term value of this share in terms of resource base is in the pounds. It depends what resource updates we get ahead of offers and also depends on how deep the pockets of the buyer are.
A share for share offer is not beyond the realms either or a cash offer. The SP would still move to the correct offer price even if a share for share offer and could even move higher depending on the credentials of the company making the offer.

I missed this one. Saw it at 100% and thought that was it after reading the RNS as they did not even mention who the other company is. Obviously I got this one wrong!
Well done all on this SNG like rise.
There is real sentiment for the Pharma stocks right now.
The question is....which one is going to go next! Lol
Ideas on a postcard please :)
This is insane
2 x 11.97M buys?
I have just seen the second one......
13:57:18 for 11.97M at 6.60 when the range was 6.50-6.68
17:10:18 11.97 at 6.48 when the range was 6.26 -6.58
Both recorded at buys.
Scratching my head 1.5M£ in one day on the day we get the article saying a group of cross party MPs are wanting bigger government backing of green air fuel....
Announcement coming?
Thanks Sean83 for that really insightful posting. And for the other posters for their comments. I felt like I was talking to myself at one point haha.
There is certainly some hefty investments so hopefully the government gets behind this in bigger amounts.
Not sure what was behind such a big buy. It was definitely a buy as it was not delayed and it was completely in line with the Offer price at the time.
This share is a funny old share. When we got planning permission there was no real movement. Maybe it was seen as a formality and already partly built in. Then the SP uptick came days afterwards almost like a lag and obviously really kicked in after the government mentioned the share on one of the daily updates.
Seems to me we are going to get an announcement specific to this project with either BA or Shell upping their investments or the government. This share has jumped around quite a bit over the last week or so. I have kept my eye on it. It would not surprise me if it upticks again as a delayed reaction to todays article or with news.

Thanks Fingersandtoes
The article mentions "As reported, a cross-party group of MPs want to see the £200 million pot topped up - matched by industry"
Are we likely to get more money injected by the government, BA and Shell?
Green jet fuel investment announcement imminent?
Someone has been tipped off somewhere to stick nearly £1M into this, this afternoon in one chunk!
Unless I am missing something? It came through with a standard LSE symbol so is a genuine buy....lots of buys have followed since from wily PIs no doubt.....
The 6.60 and 6.563 are all buys since the big buy
The 6.5 is the first sell
So in the last 20 mins
12.2M buys total vs 10k sold
So we are clear
All those purchases since the 11.97M are buys not sells....
I know that because one of those purchase since the 11.97M is mine :)
Furthermore I did a test sell and it did not match any of those prices that are actually buys reported as sells
Let's see what unfolds here
Someone knows something to stick nearly £1M in at 6.6p......
Fill your boots
Hopefully it is smart money!
11.97M buy not 11.7M buy
Done at 13:57:18 today
Someone knows something?
Wtf is going on
11.7M buy in one chunk????
Buys starting to come in too...
