If we don’t hear so much from TG, then how come we hear so much from you Mr Smith.

Quite funny how this started with wondering about a previous poster and now here we are - Mr Smith in his pulpit preaching and defending his saviour, TG, when nobody was complaining about TG. My point earlier about vindication was directed more at posters on this board 4 years back when certain posters with a ‘positive’ sway had cornered the message board.
Still, am glad that Mr Smith has been given a purpose to help with his day. I just wonder how many times we have heard these points before and how many more times will he type, and we read, then again in the future.
The one that cracks me up the most is when he defends the CFO for releasing to the market that funding is tantalisingly close (yes, I do know the CFO probably did make a naive mistake) and yet again there was no follow through. A recurring theme from management for the past 2 years - but only one person’s frontal lobe seems to be malfunctioning.

The other side of that story is Donkey was responding to all the constant hype and spin of other posters, none of which came to pass. And that it has taken 3 years for that point to be proved. Botswana is not, and never was, the honeypot of opportunity, good governance, low corruption, high transparency that others were trying to make believe it was. Latest news out this weekend is an article saying how things regressed in the 10 years under Khama rule. Of course, Aim investors sitting in UK etc were not to know that; those living in Bots knew differently and at least he tried to impart some of that on the boards.
Isn’t it surprising how much the herd wants to shoot the messenger when the message being brought isn’t what the herd wants to hear.
I am sure Donkey feels vindicated now that hindsight is there for all to see .... Would you agree MFM ?

TB - there is absolutely nothing healthy about the state of public finances in Botswana, particularly the Govt and the majority of its parastatals. Most are on life support for funding from Govt. You should expect they are talking a lot about the need for PPPs to step in and help finance much of the long needed public infrastructure. And once the parastatals like Water Board and BPC sort out much of the internal strife and problems, then a Maggie Thatcher style privatisation program will be rolled out.
However give that 3-5 years minimum for BPC to get there.

I think we have heard similar glad tidings previously. No doubt things will get going sometime. The bit we don’t know is - when.

Doh. When good news breaks, the price will motor on both AIM and ASX. The point is - in case you are lost in the wood - there has been no significant news in over 2 years to meaningfully move the price. Mgmt do their best to put shine on what is happening but the market now wants more meaningful progress so it can ascribe better value.
As for ASX price arbitrage - great if that keeps you amused. Meaningful news will generate interest volume and then we will all get to enjoy you telling us you told us.
As someone here intimated previously - never argue with a fool, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I doubt it will be any different to the presentation given to analysts on half and full year results. And there is seldom of anything given away at those sessions. But yes, good they are reaching out to the shareholder base at large.

Means they need cash in order to pay for the exploration effort. Which will either be really successful (in which case the shares price will fly) or it won’t (in which case the share price will tank). Or somewhere in between which sadly usually means death by a thousand cuts and shareholders go through years of hope and expectation but eventually it ends in disappointment (and write off of capital).
That said - the Kalahari Copper Belt is getting huge attention. Pile in, keep your wits about you, and best of luck ahead .....

Endless amount of messaging on this board, and elsewhere, by one poster in particular about ASX trading patterns. Absolutely no of which is relevant as the volumes are meaningless.
But that isn’t going to stop the person from continuing to bore everyone to death with meaningless irrelevance.

Mr Smith. Orapa is to the north and Serowe is to the east of Lesedi. And talks about gas pipelines are a completely fanciful dream. The Proof of Concept must first be established - and sadly we are still a distance away from that. About the only thing of sense I have ever heard a Minister say was when Molale addressed the Resources conference in Bots in 2018 - prove that CBM works and there is a bountiful harvest thereafter.
Are we closer today on that compared to June 2018?! Sadly I don’t think so - but heck if I explicitly say that, I am accused of deramping. Oh but then the share price has done F All for past 2+ years, so how can I intelligently be accused of deramping....
The IRP said in one place 10mw of CBM and in and other 10-100mw CBM, so I leave it to punters to decide is their real thinking about Fast Tracking CBM or humouring CBM.....
My sense - still a decent ways to go yet before Tony and team can sink their teeth in the problems of establishing CBM in Botswana.
PS when does the fcukin 100mw PPA negotiation start? You know, the one Tlou and ShagyerMammy are both Preferred Bidders for .....

The race is on now in Southern Africa for power generation from whatever means possible. There are multiple stories coming out now on a weekly basis in the region of large conglomerates and mines committing to their own power generation from renewables. Pres Ramaphosa of SA lifting the ceiling from 1mw to 50mw has opened the door and and stampede is developing. If you have a business of scale down there, and a management team and balance sheet of any consequence, they are increasingly applying to self-generate their own power.
Why? Because SA Govt and Botswana Govt and Moz Govt and Zambia Govt and Namibia Govt are ‘hopeless’. They have failed their citizens. They have failed to realise they had/ have golden geese in their hands and had they known how to develop the assets at their disposal, a massive incredibly massive massive opportunity existed for them to put capital to use for the benefit of their citizens. But the hopeless, useless, self-serving bureaucrats simply did/ do not have the skill set to take advantage of the opportunity in their lap.
It really is scandalous !! Yet Main Street man simply is so stupid they don’t know how completely their elected Govt officials have failed them.
What remains to be determined, since these things only and always come out in hindsight, is To what extent has corruption and fraud and self-serving interests have disadvantaged the local populous.
Africa will middle through; it always does. The opportunity is still there, front and centre, for power generation majors. The issue is will Govt trust these sources sufficiently so they can help solve the problem (in a fair and transparent way that serves the customers rather than the Minister’s offshore bank account).

Exactly TB. Orapa 90MW plant is dual purpose, built to run on diesel and gas. The plan apparently was to run initially on imported diesel whilst CBM could be developed as a supply source. The CBM part has never happened, or perhaps has yet to happen. The Orapa plant was built 10+ years ago by Karoo Sustainable Energy, itself a JV with Kalahari Energy (the preferred bidder for their 97mw plant in the 100mw tender).
So surely it makes sense for CBM suppliers ie Tlou and Sekaname to sell their gas to Orapa sooner than later. Why Govt chooses not to pursue this strategy over the 100mw CBM power plants has never made sense to me. A gas supply agreement/ Offtake is a much easier project to undertake and deliver in Botswana instead of mining, extraction and delivery of gas to a power plant, itself built for the purpose to generate electricity using gas as feedstock. When Orapa is ‘up the road’ and purpose built for the specific purpose.
Not doubt Tlou and Sekaname have been lobbying Ministry long and hard on the obvious sense of such a strategy.

Solar or CBM - that is the question/ challenge here.

Botswana has been noted as one of the countries with massive potential to becoming Africa’s model industrial hub when it comes to solar energy. While Botswana, Namibia and other African countries with abundant sunlight are crying and complaining of too much heat, other countries advise the natural resources.
According to experts (plenty of those around for sure - have you been talking to them Mr Smith) Botswana could develop a multimillion dollar industry out of solar energy, massive industrialisation in terms of manufacturing solar charging chips, assembling of power storing batteries, endless opportunities and huge potential in creating jobs for young people.

So there you go - we have heard about the massive CBM potential as articulated by Tlou since 2009 but progress has been slow. Now we hear about the massive solar potential - will progress be as equally slow ?
My sense is CBM will develop along with solar (however solar takes the lead) but since Botswana is a substantial land mass country with rather small population, and an increasing strategy of utilising domestic citizens (Citizens Empowerment Agency), progress on all fronts is going to be slow. Especially as public finances have taken a large hit thanks to budget deficits caused by covid in 2020 and likely 2021. There are going to be substantial opportunities for private sector participation - providing the politics stay calm and sensible. Near in mind, previous Pres SIK is always lurking to stir the pot get his finger back into the pie.
When does the 100mw PPA negotiations start - or is this yet another talking shop where nothing happens .....
