Finally, news on the mega solar project plans between Botswana and Namibia. The Americans are all over this project as they look to help with funding and technology. Article taken from FB.

Yesterday (13th April 2021), MMGE Minister Hon. Lefoko Moagi and H.E. U.S. Ambassador Craig Cloud signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) to deploy 5 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity across Botswana and Namibia. The MOI is between Power Africa - a US government-led initiative, Republic of Namibia and it is spearheaded from the United States of America. The goal of the project will be to produce electricity mainly for export across the Southern African region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Minister Moagi said that he hopes that the project commences at an earliest convenience as it will promote addition of renewable energy into the energy mix; and also bring opportunities for the people such as creation of employment as some of the solar farms will be built in Botswana and some in Namibia.

For his part, Ambassador Cloud said that the project will move Botswana from being over reliant on other countries for energy, to not only being energy independent but being able to export energy, and adding renewable energy to the energy mix.

Looking ahead, Cloonan ‘ideally’ expects negotiations for the first US$10mln tranche of the financing to be concluded this quarter.

The would-be lenders haven’t been named, but the Tlou CFO confirms he and the team are talking to a Botswana-based group.

“It's a relatively straightforward process, and we don't expect any red flags on that,” says Cloonan of the initial funding round.

Mate - best you realise it is MM and his Twitter crew who are the ones trying to sell Tlou as the only CBM game in town. That has been their behaviour for years, and now there is obvious signs of progress in-country (finally), they are back to their messaging and bleating with renewed purpose.
CBM opportunity is plenty big enough for Tlou and Kalahari and Strata-X. And more players will start arriving shortly. Yet the Tlou rampers have only one agenda - ramp Tlou and rubbish everyone and everything else. They won’t change their thoughts.
At least old Mr Smith seems to genuinely (but naively) think Tony and Tlou have everything all down up.
Tlou and Sekaname have exactly the same status in Botswana at present - both are Preferred Bidders. Best wait and see who pulls ahead and how....

Does that mean that Tlou were awarded ‘conventional preferred bidder’ status and Sekaname were awarded ‘unconventional preferred bidder’ status.

You and Tidd used to love telling everyone what Tlou had back in the day is 2017. Jeepers 4 years ago, how times flies. I guess you were not following Seka progress on Environmentals via the Ecosurv website. What a shame since Ecosurv have revamped their website very recently - maybe they will reload the history of how they serviced client projects, and maybe they won’t.
Oh and the real point still remains Tlou were not the first (or even the second) to flare CBM in Botswana. Stick with the point MM please

M/M - you are 100% factually incorrect in your post. There was a time in 2017 when Tlou posted they were the first company to flare gas in Botswana. That assertion was challenged and Tlou amended their subsequent RNS and PR messaging removing this assertion.
Why?
Because, the previous holder of Tlou leases, Saber Energy, were flaring gases on the leases that Tlou purchased from Saber (who actually spent more exploration $$ on Lesedi than Tlou have to date). Also Sekaname were the first company to flare gas on a CBM exploration licence than Tlou or Saber, and whilst I know you won’t like to read or be reminded of this, before you get yourself (and your Twitter mates) all agitated and lathered up, go check this FACT out with Tony and team. Please - because facts are facts and in this case, easily enough proven.
What however I do appreciate is your considerable efforts to generate interest about CBM in Botswana - but imo your efforts would hold considerably more credibility if you had a grasp of historical facts.
We are not on different sides here - but if you are determined to ramp, then please remember there are a few old timers here who actually do have some legacy intellectual knowledge ..... credibility wins out in the long run ....Don’t exhaust yours yet again !

DTE, so how is a company that produces no gas going to tender for a contract that requires gas to be supplied. Bearing in mind that Botsgas won’t be in a position to supply any locally sourced CBM for 2 or 3 years ....

Yup, even though Tlou’s management are over-stretched with all that is going on, they still have time to read message boards and then take the time to issue RNS just to correct any shareholder misunderstanding and/or misinterpretation of what the company is endeavouring to achieve.

PS - most plans prepared by way of desktop publishing are indicative in nature. And aspirational.

It’s in the bag then! 10MW start of the 100MW tender, with the balance to follow when Sekaname collapse under weight of expectation. And they win the Orapa 90MW tender in full as nobody else close to being able to fulfilling the supply side. It really is blue sky ahead for us all here!! Well done Tony and team

Yesterday the EU Delegation to Botswana & SADC hosted a highly successful webinar on Team Europe financing instruments of interest to expand sustainable energy in Botswana.

More than 100 people tuned in to hear about the offerings of EU-based development finance institutions, including the European Investment Bank, Agence française de développement and COFIDES. In addition, there was ATI, ElectriFI, Facility for Energy Inclusion and Climate Investor One, which are also backed by the EU. Participants came from the private sector, Botswana officials, development partners, the diplomatic community, the financial sector and academia.

Botswana has a huge potential to produce and export solar energy. The post-pandemic recovery will be an opportunity to invest in this untapped potential and to work for a greener future and create good jobs for the nation’s youth.

Your high level analysis continually ignores one simple important fact - all exploration companies need dollars into order to explore. And once the commodity is found many more dollars to extract, and commercialise their activities by selling their product. And the dollars are not an unlimited resource, so since there are competing demands for the dollars resource, even though the prize may appear massive, the commercial demands and risk management processes of the Lenders increasingly then dictate whether the prize can be unlocked.
And equity shareholders all the while need to stay the course - sometimes this gets done for less than 100m shares in issue; often it takes a couple hundred million; and even more often the time taken requires 500m to a billion shares to be issued.
Not many exploration companies (and not yet commercially active) with a billion shares in issue make their shareholders super wealthy.

Then again, if Mr Smith would refrain from his oft off-topical posts, we wouldn’t have to suffer such fools.
