Yep....seeing the battering that the markets, especially oil, is taking today, then I'm happy we're still where we are...could have been worse. Also some trading for the Company is good.... Those selling, taking profits, and coming back in at a newer price will set new price targets.... In the long run this is not bad....still a lot of % up over where it was a month ago. Besides, it just feels like getting divorced all over again, and that was one of the best weeks of my life...
Of course, if a really serious player was about to come in....I suppose they could have positioned themselves nicely the day before.....something that might push up the SP by, say 2,5%....then sell strategically the next day, try and create some panic....to bring the SP down...and then...boom...in for the home run.... Anyway...just thinking aloud.... I'll go back to sleep now.
Agreed escargot..... hate spikes.... but, it can work both ways....might see some FOMO over the next 2 weeks...and those spikes up never feel quite as bad.... It's gonna be fine....smiley face...
Yep...same, stocks sliding all over the world, a dip here didn't surprise me (well, it did a little but I held me nerve like a good boy)....some panic selling, that's all.... At the end of the day something is worth what someone will pay....the most illogical rule, but the sad truth. SP stabilising now as the calmness prevails.... I think it's going to be a great weekend (touch wood etc)....
Also interesting are the resolutions that BP's shareholders will probably force them to adopt at the AGM this week....regarding environment etc.... However, as someone in the Funds business (and not an oily), trust me - the Fund Managers will go where there's money to be made....and indeed, as Alibi1 points out, WB went to quite some trouble on the Occidental/Anadarko deal in recent weeks. So long as there is revenue in producing, then there will be bang for your buck, don't worry.
Puta...as much as I'd like a 4x here and now, it would be unhealthy IMHO... Ideally this SP grows slowly and steadily, small rises each day, sometimes a dip to be expected, and spikes (reasonable ones) on days of good news or anticipated good news. If I could 4x my money over the next 2 years I'd be over the moon.... But the temptation with sudden big spikes is to sell, because the volatility could suddenly kick in and then it's bad for all....it would attract short sellers and discourage bullish investors...and we'd possibly be at the mercy of bigger players. It would also be difficult for the current IIs such as CA, since their weighting (% NAV of their Guernsey Fund) would then probably exceed their permitted limits, and whilst that sounds good, trust me, it's not, in the short term. Sorry - too long working in offshore funds has made me boring....but patience is a virtue, if you'll afford me the cliche. I'm no expert (no one is on SP moves) but if we can look at the next set of financials and start to see potential for good revenue, future growth over the coming years, then that's what we want - coupled with a nice, bullish (low vol) trend northwards. Just my two cents worth... Over to one of the real experts if they want to pick this up...meanwhile I'm just happy learning about flow rates and all things speleological :-) There is a true wealth of expertise here....it's a pleasure to read. Thanks all.
Assume most folk here have the RNS alerts set up for CA anyway...if not it's a good idea....you get to see whenever they +- their 5% holding in anything, including HUR.
Has Nathan's 'helpful advice' email now broken the record for the number of emails in one thread (more than Rope)? Been great to hear what everyone has to say....some wise words. Helpful to old and young alike. Some very well meaning folk on this BB. Not unhappy the SP dipped today - it has to elevate in a controlled manner. I remember Biopath Holdings on NASDAQ earlier this year....up 3000% in 3 days and then back down to half that in the space of 7 minutes - FOMO on the way up and lack of traders on the way down.... So, slow and steady is the best way. Have a great weekend all.
Nathan....of course the real trick is not to get married and let her run off with the house and money....I'm not going to get married again, I'm just going to find a woman I don't like and buy her a house....those are my years worth of grey haired wisdom....but best of luck and yes,I agree...I would hold these for a while longer....you'll learn a lot from the experts on this bb...of which I'm not one btw....Good luck.
I wonder if, at some point soon, possible FOMO gets hold of the SP.....that would kick it up.... But maybe better to see the long, modest, steady climb to the next accounting period. All exciting anyway....going to sleep well tonight.
Off topic, but just watched such a good documentary....Am sure lots of you good folk would enjoy if you've not seen it. Called 'The Last Breath', about saturation diving in the North Sea. I guess the experts among you probably know the story and the folk involved, but for someone like me (closest I've been to the North Sea is not very close at all)....it was mind blowing.... I was an experienced diver myself, but never commercial...and certainly not on the bed of the North Sea at 4 degrees C.. Wow!! 20 years working in Africa conditioned me to the warmth, made me soft....so a real 'respect builder' for those guys working day-in, day-out in the NS. Well worth a watch if no one has seen it. Have a good week all.
Basic = SP based on assets minus liabilities divided by number of shares in issue. However, also SP = what someone will pay for it. I am super happy with what I see so far here, in terms of my investment, and if the price that traders are willing to pay per share doubles over the next year then that is my hope (and expectation) based on my own research and calcs. The best thing I saw recently was that they kept the date of the AGM around beginning of June. Per Company Law (I gather) they could have pushed this out another 3 months. They chose not to. I like that. Makes me feel confident that although the current 'assets minus liabilities divided by shares in issue' is terrible, the future should hold a very different story. I really like this BB, and appreciate all the expertise I glean from some of the key posters (Cebo,ADUK etc)...Plus, I really like the banter (usually) and even if I lost my investment, then at least I had a go in something in which I believe and life just teaches me another lesson as I move on... Just my two cents worth anyway (which is slightly less than wot I got invested) :-)
Hi...I was looking into a few things on that side also.... You guys helped me out with my 'dumb question' the other day when the ship started 'moving', and I was grateful for that.... I'm not in oil but I do work in offshore funds, so I was taking a look at accounts and so on....noted particularly the convertible bonds Hurricane issued in Guernsey on the TISE, which are due in 2022. Stuck at work right now, but if I get chance to look at some of those things later I will try to see if I can find anything useful. One thing I was wondering about was Brexit and how that could affect things....not sure about that. Will try to post later. All in all I see positive things long terms for Hurricane - is my general view, although potential for fluctuations on the way.
Okay - I see, thanks... Sorry if it was a dumb question... Thanks for the info. Appreciated.
okay...so what am I seeing on MT?
Hi Bungle/WW - so that is expected yes? Sorry - I'm new to this sector.... But just looking at the MT site and had not been expecting AM to move...
Hi...not an expert in this on next step - but got an email on 'vessel is moving'....although I know that does happen even when it isn't actually headed anywhere.... But, should we expect the AM to remain on site at anchor for now? Thanks anyone (for a sensible, positive reply, please :-))
My first post so I just wanted to say hi to the BB…. Happy to be a part of this, especially on a today like today (touch wood)… Been following this for a while and wanted to join the ‘community’… Afraid I don’t have any expertise in oil but I do have 20+ years in offshore funds….so will try to add value if I can…but otherwise good luck to all.
