AD - indeed, classic....'You can Never Tell'....and last line perchance prophetic...inshallah, as we used to say on the coast... Oh and btw - totally agree on the classic car front....outside of family, most prized possession was my 110 diesel n/a ...when everything else broke down in life, that kept going....day in, day out...
Monsieur Snail: "mrfox:I had to chuckle at your post using the " it is what it is " phrase"...
Yep....it's a phrase I've unfortunately picked up from my wage slave prison (aka the office).... I did try to soften any aggravation by claiming partial insanity from 7 hours of listening to lectures on C Shares, ESMA and the like...bla bla... My brain was a-fuzz, if that is a word.
I'm sorry you and mrs snail are having a rough run.... It's been the same me for me and the Fox Cub (that's my son).... But we're getting through..... had been 25% down on it all last Jan....now only a fraction down....and in the main part thanks to HUR's performance year to date (big picture view).... I wish you and mrs snail better fortunes....and I shall now clear the board for those who wish to chat technicals..... Although on that note all I can say is that, at the end of the jour something is worth what someone else will pay for it....and that is a matter of sentiment....
Anyway....it is what it is....c'est la vie et bonne chance escargot.
Yep, agreed.... I can't help wondering (and I know it is what it is so no point imagining otherwise)....but....what if that first rope hadn't snagged/snapped etc, and FOIL was announced several few weeks before the recent Trump Tweets and Oil slump... I wonder if we'd be in an entirely different situation....? Just mulling it over... Sorry - my brain is fried for the day....just spent 7 hours listening to a course on Gsy Listed Funds - makes Fox a dull boy.
JK - ha ha...yep....just realised that.... I was still thinking Alice in Wonderland.... :-)
AD - "The next chapter is 'The Queen's Croquet-Ground"... yep.... 2, 5 and 7 have always been my lucky numbers. ...
Right... I'm off to take a Blue Pill...time once again to get the boy away from his computer (my son, I mean) and off to bed... Another day tomorrow....
Thanks all, for an excellent chat...
WW...I was also on the decision tree....but if its of any use AD's Alice reference helped me decide... There's only a few folk worth listening to.... And posts over the last week by Diego, Laserdic, and Steve helped me decide to stay at the table.... Just my own interpretation though....and who knows; I'm not an oily, but I can read.... And remember today was a terrible day for Brent and Nymex - so, this was to be expected (with hindsight of course)..... Anyway - my two cents worth....
WW - gotta love riddles.... I read, from AD's excellent reference, that no matter how hard Alice (or us, I guess) try to get to the bottom of the story (about the bottom of the well) that all we're going to find for now is nonsense and answers about anything beginning with 'M'.... In other words...to coin that phrase 'we'll find out when we find out'.... Hmmmm.... I hope I understood that.... Anyway....also remember that the Dormouse was drowned in a teapot...so..what to do...
Chikungfunk - no worries, no offence taken.... (smiley face)
Think this one is english, not maths....% holding of 'investee' equity.... meaning the % they hold of the investee (i.e. HUR).... Although I stand to be corrected as always...., But certainly when you look at the other % of their holdings it is obvious it is investee since some of them range up to %40 or so....meaning it is investee, not investor (i.e. themselves).... However, figures up to end of May.... Hmmm..I can go ask them if you like - I'm only 2 doors up the road :-)
Agreed ww - that is their holding of investee equity...so they're building...
Just out:
Crystal Amber Fund announces that its unaudited net asset value (“NAV”) per share at 31 May 2019 was 238.37 pence (30 April 2019: 225.56 pence per share).
The proportion of the Fund’s NAV at 31 May 2019 represented by the ten largest shareholdings, other investments and cash (including accruals), was as follows:
Ten largest shareholdings Pence per share Percentage of investee equity held
Hurricane Energy plc 63.8 5.3%
Hecate - this is really tough, even with cheating..... but, invariably I am crap at these types of things.... It's times like these I look back on my wasted and expensive education where the only thing I can work out in the entire post is who Hecate was in mythology (that masters wasn't wasted I now realise),,,,And I sigh in despair.... I know it will be even worse in about ten minutes when some of the posters here will come in with all the correct answers (no doubt without cheating) and I'll feel even more useless.... Oh well.... I have developed this superb skill now of raising my hand and confessing ignorance before the question is even asked....you'd be amazed how useful it has become. But, anyway - thanks for the weekend post.... That kept me entertained for more than a little while, but still no answers for you....sorry..... Right, better drag my son away from his computer and feed him I guess... I think I will certainly need a glass of wine for that. Cheers....
No worries TheDriver... just teasing... You've only been expressing on the BB what most folk are feeling anyway... But, the calm head prevails I think was the feedback... We're going to be okay. Everyone checks these BBs for their own reasons, I'm sure... a bit of technical knowledge some days, and some comfort-chat on others....I think a lot of folk have gone all-in on this....and hats off to them....Great weekend to all and fingers crossed for a good week or two coming up...
mr Jim - take it you are on the asset mgmt /dealing side.... for my sins I got stereotyped in my early days in legal and compliance and never managed to drop the label...makes me a dull boy... Anyhow....my reckoning would be that the offloading will be largely done now at the mid 60 level, and a gentle rise of 1% a day would be a preference over the long term rather than a volatile spike.... That sound reasonable to you? I've always preferred the long game anyway....easier and kinder on the blood pressure (eh Driver?)... great weekend to all :-)
...wow I bore myself even....how the heck did I end up in finance!! I wanted to be a scuba diver but it was paying only ten bucks a day....another crushed dream....
Yep....DTR5.1 I think is the one....below for info...
Aperson must notify the issuer of the percentage of its voting rights he holds as shareholder or holds or is deemed to hold through his direct or indirect holding of financial instruments falling within DTR 5.3.1R (1) (or a combination of such holdings) if the percentage of those voting rights:
(1) reaches, exceeds or falls below 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, 10% and each 1% threshold thereafter up to 100% (or in the case of a non-UK issuer on the basis of thresholds at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 50% and 75%) as a result of an acquisition or disposal of shares or financial instruments falling within DTR 5.3.1 R; or
(2) reaches, exceeds or falls below an applicable threshold in (1) as a result of events changing the breakdown of voting rights and on the basis of information disclosed by the issuer in accordance with DTR 5.6.1 Rand DTR 5.6.1A R;
The Driver - you could invest into Hindsight PLC...? I hear that they could have done really well if only.... Don't worry.... this one is going to be okay...just going to take a little while...no worries. It's the weekend...enjoy... :-)
...so.... (sorry Petethestreet - couldn't resist that)...and great point btw - made my day.... But, my actual post was Jobs Data just missed in the USA - so increases chance for interest rate cut by FED in June (let's see)....and if so, then potentially better for Global Picture all round...including oil in the mid longer term....IMO. But, if they don't cut then not so good. Meanwhile only good headlines coming out of Russia ref discussions with Saudi and Opec. Anyway, that's about all I can contribute (not being an oily)...sorry... I'll get back in my box now.
...seem to be going well in St Petersburg right now....with OPEC+ and Russia making the right noises and fiddling with the correct knobs....so to speak.... Fingers crossed the PoO gets back some bullishness... Should settle things a little, one can only hope... And if not its Friday so who cares!! :-)
Wulbert - if you want an excellent laugh, then search the UK patent office...I wouldn't expect to find anything relevantbut some examples include: Mr Rose's Anti-Hurricane Attacker; Mr McFarland's Huricane Killer; a rather interestinh Hurricane Scaffold Strap (not that type of strap); and my personal favourite Mr Goodalls invention of a means to change the course of a hurricane and ameliorate its destructive force....There is mention of a Hurricane 3d Rig - but I am stretched to think anything is there.....
Anyway, that's my new favourite web site....and some light relief to ponder while we all work out what the heck is happening out there on the SP.... Could it be that the above mentioned Mr MacFarland is the alluded to short seller.... who knows....
:-)
