If you look at all gold markets, a lot of the rise sparked by paper hedging as much as buying the metal. They will all still consider todays prices or higher, the floor - it's the true exodus from equity to gold that will blast it up exponentially

This is risk arbitrage. Sophisticated parties (governments, financiers, management) identified UK shareholders as the optimal risk carriers and structuring the deal accordingly. It's actually quite brilliant from their perspective. Ruthless, but brilliant.

You have to understand it from the perspective of all the other participants. It's an absolute risk control scenario, and who can carry the risk for them, as much as possible. Anyone that thinks otherwise is deluded. that is the exercise

This is essentially a risk concentration mechanism that funnels the majority of downside risk to the least protected UK shareholder group. Designed as a risk concentration and transfer mechanism.

How do we get this mine built with minimal risk to ourselves?

Who can we transfer maximum risk to while maintaining our upside/control?

How do we structure this so if it fails, someone else bears the losses?

The Answer: UK retail shareholders via KEFI plc

This captures the fundamental asymmetry: KEFI shareholders face the same (or worse) downside risks of frontier market mining operations, but through a corporate structure that systematically diminishes their participation in any success. The multiple layers create a structural ceiling on returns that doesn't exist on the risk side. Essentially, it's a heads-you-lose-more, tails-you-win-less proposition compared to direct mining company ownership.

In essence, KEFI UK shareholders (not KEFI itself or other participants), bare circa 90% of the risk for capped return

But just in my humbly opinion

Problem

For every 100 points of absolute return in a standard ownership operation, the proposed structure here would reduce that to 30 points.

Issue

When something is a buy in the near future, the dark lords will have arrived prior, quietly, unnoticed by most

In a small share, their proxy reps will do it. Very easy to spot them as they are a bit dim compared to bigger market tactics

But tbf most of them are producing gold so i suppose spot price means something

What more can one say really? Big and many lessons throughout the years with this approach by junior caps into Ethiopia and neighbours.

Worth a thought anyway - it's just yet another risk to add.
