Chris - I am being consistent - I have always said relinquishment is a possible outcome and it still is.

I believe the company are seeking a placing but in this environment (and until Prolific are cleared) I don’t think it will be possible.

I also think relinquishment may be the best route for shareholders. Cut losses and get out of Africa before any more money is poured into this. At least then they can get on with the strategy, and get rid of the goons at Gneiss.

On Bloomberg they are saying it was the German increase in military spending that triggered his little Rage-y.

This has been in Putins plans for years, and he has been behaving aggressively for some time.

It is a dangerous situation but he doesn’t have domestic support for this, and I suspect Chinese support is conditional.

He has very little to gain from a protracted war, and it looks like he has already hardened and unified nato and the EU against him. His reputation as master strategist seems to be in tatters. Hopefully the Russians will take care of the situation and remove his access to the nuclear buttons.

Mansardman - if he is as unhinged as you think then our continued existence is probably enough of an affront to make him push the button. Someone with an ego this fragile cannot be pleased.

I have to agree with Romaron - little point being diplomatic with someone who openly threatens nuclear Armageddon.

The game has changed. Tip toeing around Putin is pointless. If someone is willing to threaten to launch nukes because of some “statements” then it is the beginning of the end (for them IMHO).

We shouldn’t be provocative for the sake of it, but a firm line is needed that this behaviour is unacceptable.

Auson - it’s up to the Ukrainians to setup their foreign division. Perhaps under ukrainian commanders and using some of the western weapons recently supplied by the U.K. and others. Not sure why you think they would be given AKs?

WW3 ain’t happening. The rest of the world wants stability and Russia can’t even get a quick victory over a small neighbour.

I would agree with you if this was a free for all, but as long as there is an effective Ukrainian military inviting foreign volunteers then I don’t see a problem.

Auson - I don’t think it’s illegal to join a foreign legion - people have been doing it for years.

And we have plenty of trained people, veterans etc who might go and do this.

I’m not saying it was wise to encourage this, but people will go anyway. I applaud anyone who does.

Stupmy - the Russians can bring the west to nought if they wish. That has been the case for 60+ years.

Not much we can do about it now. If Putin wants to do that then we can’t stop him. But I don’t think it would do him or Russia much good, and on that basis it has to be very unlikely outcome.

It’s not a relevant threat because it is unlikely to happen, and if it does then the world is fisted anyway… so yeah not much fear value for me. It would be the beginning of the end if we allow someone to use nuclear Armageddon as a bargaining tool!

Once this is all over we will hopefully have a renewed effort to reduce global nuclear stockpiles. To me this demonstrates how useless it is.

I agree with Chilting for once.

The west has made a strong stand (some would say overdue). Only options for Putin are bad ones. Cut off gas to Europe or start firing nukes. Both desperate measures that will do more damage to Russia in the long run.

All it will take is a critical mass of the population and the Putin machine will start to unravel. Just need to get to a point where it’s in the self interest of some powerful institutions And individuals to move against him.

Hardly trolling to point out the (I will admit) rather obvious fact that the world is a scarier place than it was on Friday.

It looks to me like at least £4 million pounds is needed, so number of shares in issue will more than double if they get a placing away at 0.4p.

We should see an acceleration in all forms of energy production in the U.K.

The government could easily accelerate oil and gas developments, and also renewables such as tidal power (see orbital marine, who have planning consent off IoW and somewhere in wales - all they need is the ring fenced CfD process to be expedited to start cutting steel IMHO).

Oil demand will get a big boost from rearmament and Europeans striving for energy independence. I see Germany are building 2 new LNG facilities. All going to need a lot of raw materials and energy.

Yes, nuclear threat is a desperate move.

No good options for Putin in Ukraine assuming Ukraine army can keep going. Best case for him is he gets his eastern regions, but likely the west would jump straight back on the fast track to NATO / EU membership. No way he can maintain a puppet regime IMHO.

This should be the end of Putin, but who knows…
