He relies on the support of China. Who definitely don’t care for high food and fuel prices, and global instability. He is holding the world hostage - that is a sign of desperation IMHO.

The only reason he is not being slapped down is that he has nukes.

Putin has a weak hand…he has tried admirably to bluff it out but I think soon he will have to take one of these off ramps and be satisfied with continuing to plunder a much diminished Russia while he remains in office.

Chris - you said that setting up a legal entity was expensive.

I would suggest that it might be beneficial, if you have an asset in another country, to pay the lawyers and employ enough people to create legal structures that will maximise efficiency. SCIR are a minnow playing with sharks IMHO.

I doubt the BOD have time to do much thinking or strategising at all given that they seem to roll into the office about 12 and disperse to their main jobs with other companies after a boozy lunch IMHO

Yes I think long term effectively 2 markets for oil.

Before then though there is massive disruption to Russian output as Russia tries to replace all of its customers, and new customers work out how they can buy and transport it without falling foul of sanctions.

Long term Russian output will decline as they lose access to western technology and cash, and Putin sucks up profits to support the economy and war. If he completely abandons the capitalist part of state capitalism (which seems inevitable if he carries on as he is) then declines could be substantial.

I expect demand will be elastic to some extent at these prices.

There would be some costs to do the legal bits associated with transferring the assets into the new company.

Lots of companies have wholly owned subsidiaries for a number of reasons. One of these is often to hold assets that are in a different country to the parent.

Ah, so another example of SCIR having an asset that they can’t afford to manage properly.

The market is slowly pricing in that these prices are likely to last a long time.

A year ahead the price is now over $100 so could be some good hedging to be done if AB is forced to by the banks.

That’s a shame - as Jiff says it would likely make disposal an awful lot easier. Why the BOD have not put this in place I wonder?
