Chilting - it’s obvious you have no comprehension of the engineering and financial challenges that need to be met to do this (let alone do it in the next 7.5 years!!!!)

You need to invent a large number of whole new technologies and scale them up. Unless you are doing this with sea water then there are going to be material restrictions on these technologies.

Power gen is relatively easy (though still a huge challenge to replace all FF generation). Of course storage technologies are not very mature so that needs to be developed to go all the way on eleimunating gas. There is then the issue of needing vastly more electricity as we presumably convert all our transport, heating and industry to electric.

All the swedes are doing is offshoring their foresail fuel extraction, and not reducing their consumption.

The easy option is to vilify domestic producers while importing from murderous regimes overseas. When the Russians and Saudis are your go to guys for oil you are part of the problem.

I don’t think there is much option other than phased in this environment. My point is that Bressay could be a little closer to your bite sized infill drilling style investment. Mods to EP, drilling and subsea. Spread it over 4 years and equity split and it’s not a huge number. Alma Galia was a disaster but it came in at about $2 billion.

I think the Mariner comparison is talking about the fields (heavy oil, similar size). Not necessarily the development concept.

Phased to me means you make the investment decision based on phase 1. It stands on its own merit.

Hi Romaron - where did you see $5.5 billion for Bressay? Certainly a phased production would be a lot cheaper and I guess that is what AB is pushing.

If it is tie backs to EP or AK with minor mods then payback could be quite quick.

Well it’s not law yet but I think it will go ahead. I do think there will be some extra sweetners. Electrification spending looks like it might qualify for relief.

If we end up with a new PM and chancellor then they could roll some of it back earlier than 2024, though again I think unlikely.

Perhaps the sensible wing of the Tory party will have a little more influence after The no confidence vote.

He is not pricing ENQ to fail, but I guess thinks there will be significant dilution or punitive terms on any refinance. Or a cheap buy out.

They have rose bank as well which is more mature and may compete for their investment, but if ENQ can use existing assets then the project will have fewer hurdles to get past in Equinor.

For me they will be pragmatic about it. The U.K. tax regime is still competitive given the big tax breaks. Particularly heavy oil fields.

They gave operatorship to ENQ for a reason. They want it developed and ENQ have what they need to do it c CV ost efficiently.

Bressay works for Equinor I would imagine. They have a good amount of U.K. production that they will want to shield by investing.
