Jason Goldberg, Barclays US Large-Cap Bank Senior Equity Analyst, joined Bloomberg Open Interest to talk about what matters in the JPMorgan results and what it signals for the rest of the big banks.

The shares ended the day at $310.77, down by 4.23%. Buy the rumour, sell the news?

I hope this is not an early indicator of what is to come for Barclays on results day?

JPMorgan (JPM) kicking off bank earnings with a mixed quarter. Investment-banking fees missed guidance, while trading revenue beat expectations and the bank projected stronger net interest income.

After more hand grenades from the Mango Mussolini thrown yesterday about a maximum 10% interest charge on Credit Cards for 12 months... the price has bounced back to just 4p short of it's Friday close.

Will be really interesting to see what happens from 1.30pm onwards UK time and especially 2.30pm plus, to see how the shares respond to the JP Morgan Chase anticipated biggest profit on record announcement.

A rare weekend post from me. So, 490p was indeed reached and breached on Tuesday 6th January with a short term lived intraday high of 492.95p. Only for the Banking Sector to get the jitters and for the share to close out the week at 484.90p, which is not to be sniffed at.

As per my post of Friday 19th December 2025, next week starts the U.S. Major Banks Q4/Full 2025 Year Results Season with the Big 6 setting the scene.

Barclays see’s itself as a “mini-me” J P Morgan therefore whatever happens to J P Morgan’s share price, "tends" to replicate with Barclays.

I have included a German "write-up" released today by ad-hoc-news.de (I've never heard of them either). The piece has been converted to English by some peculiar software/AI Bot meaning that the translation is not as accurate as could possibly be and the grammar and layout is also littered with question marks. That said, having taken my time, I managed to get through.

Spoiler Alert.:

It indicates that some of the upward momentum and the continued Bull Run in the Barclays A.D.R's may be due to Tik-Tok "Share Tip" Videos. I don't use TikTok so I can't comment and are not sure how you could prove the theory anyway. Nonetheless it seems to infer that TikTok is replicating the same process that was famously used by an army of American small retail investors to fuel the share price of companies like GameStop (GME) and AMC Entertainment (AMC) during the meme stock phenomenon in early 2021 via the the no-commission trading app Robinhood.

Arrive at your own conclusions!

So... the 2.30pm opening of the U.S. Markets and Barclays A.D.R. purchases seem to have really "lit the blue touch paper" for the rally this afternoon meaning the shares reaching 489.00p at circa 4.00pm.

Having monitored the last 30 minutes of live trading (once again) using the screen split facility on my monitor from 4.00pm, some real shenanigans (i.m.h.o) with the share price was then seen.... up and down like the proverbial Bride's nightie.

The price was 489.00p at 4.00pm,

then DOWN by 6 pence to 483.00p at 4.05pm,

then UP by 4.4 pence to 487.40 at 4.10pm,

then DOWN by 4.60 pence to 482.80p at 4.15pm,

then UP by 4.10 pence to 486.90p at 4.20pm.

Emphasised beautifully by the time lapse "mountain view" share price on Google when typing the search of Barc Live Share Price.

Purely coincidental? Hmmmm i'm not convinced? I appreciate that the memory can play tricks but in all my years of monitoring the last 30 minutes of trades I don't remember such roller coaster zig-zag fluctuations in such a succinct 20 minute period.

Anyway... bar the Mango Mussolini creating further geo-political situations i.e. taking over Greenland, but firstly choosing to "steal"the Oil in Venezuela to then remove the focus of having to release the unredacted 1 million or so Epstein files... then 🤞🏻 all going to plan so far. What a blatantly corrupt individual Trump is. Slap on wrists... no more politics.

@Trucks and @chris.wooldridge I hope you are both well. Whilst not having kept records, i suspect my daily predictions (not to be confused with short term chartist sums) are something close to the Brexit Results 52% correct followed by 48% incorrect.

Let's see where we are by c.o.b. by Friday 16th January 2026 after the U.S Big 6 Banks have declared their results.

Such a long build up to Christmas… and then whoosh.

Anyway, as per title, plenty of short term positives to be seem including Futures markets today, retail investors funds being deposited by the institutions this week and Major U.S. Banks positive reporting next week.

Not wishing to start another “just for fun” competition but would not be surprised to see 490p reached and breached this week… and then the big one of 500p reached and breached next week.

Dsrt2012’s “Just For Fun Competition - Guess The End of Year 2025 Share Price” has now closed. No further entries will be accepted.

The last trading day of the year and close for the London Stock Exchange will be at circa 12.30pm on Wednesday 31st December 2025. Making no assumptions, with the understanding of the mixed demographic of novice to experienced traders on the Board. The relevance of referring to the performance of the Big 6 U.S. Banks is three-fold:

The American Banks, on the whole, set the tone and direction of travel of European Banks Shares with similar operating models.

Typically, if U.S. Bank shares rise following their results, so do European Banks, almost immediately, with similar operating models.

Barclays see’s itself as a “mini-me” J P Morgan therefore whatever happens to J P Morgan’s share price, tends to replicate with Barclays.
