Morning All,

I appreciate that there is still a long time to go before 4.30pm, but my gut feel of little, to no, bounce back of the circa 5% fall of Friday by the closing bell today currently still looks accurate. Let's see what happens today but more importantly what happens on Results Day of Wednesday, but i would not be surprised to see the "shaking of the tree" between now and then, whether gentle or vigorous. If the meantime I will now need to blow the dust of my "Helix Maths Set" and plot my simplistic short term share price lines!

Keeping my sack of powder particularly dry at the moment.

I appreciate you understand the risks of "shorts and longs" (you're a braver man than me), so I genuinely hope you (and all others with skin in the game) have not lost any significant value of money on your trade. The markets are continually manipulated by the Institutions to "rinse the retail investors" and to those that think otherwise... at best is naive and at worst is plainly wrong. I appreciate that you realise that the roulette number has already been chosen before the silver ball lands in this game!

As Retail Investors, no more how big a stake or lump we bet on the markets, we are only crumbs on the table that can easily be swept away and discarded at any time!

I hope you are well. Kept my distance from Barclays since May but feel that there is something coming down the pipe. Not sure whether the Mango Mussolini a.k.a. Trump will stick to his 1st November Tariff deadlines or stick to his T.A.C.O. moniker. Trump Always Chickens Out. Time will make things clearer.

god bless you sir! you always make me laugh out loud. especially with your grand union and berni inn quips. all is tickety-boo, thankyou for asking. similarly, i hope all is well with you, her indoors and your wider clan.

the two week no-fly cruise in july was fabulous… so much so, i’ve put a deposit down for another one next june. in fairness, i followed it up in august with two weeks back home in italy. then finally a week in north wales, with our 14-month imperial shih-tzu for her first holiday.

all paid for, including spending money, from the £11k net profits of my last (horrible) barclays trade in may. the experience affected me so much… i decided to take a holiday… or three, to recover!

anyway, far be it from me to even remotely indicate that i am related to nostradamus but my antennae have been twitching in relation to barclays over the past few days, so i decided to post the result dates yesterday, only to wake up this morning to find that they had dropped by circa 5%. as you are aware, because of the usa credit ****roaches in their regional banks. more to come do you think? hmmm…. 🤔

i will monitor barclays now until the end of the year, as typically, but not always guaranteed, i sense there just may be an opportunity to purchase a “lump” before the year end and then sell in february 26, post annual results, for my usual “all in roulette trade” and aim of a 10% return🤞🏻it will be very interesting to see what happens to the stock on monday.

thankfully, all my capital and trades are within my isa, so “rachel from accounts” will get no extra tax from me via my tax returns, unless she changes the operating rules to isa’s? i wouldn’t put anything past her and her robotic style.

i appreciate you advised no need to reply, but i felt duty bound to do so.

I suggested, as you did also, that circa 330p was possible/likely... and today that price arrived.

I cashed out for the reason of marriage preservation... but can totally empathise with your rationale.

For anyone that has never seen significant profit on an investment firstly evaporate, then secondly turn into a significant loss and then have to wait many, many years only to see their funds return to a break even figure, in my opinion, has never bought Barclays shares.

A decent profit can only be called so, when banked. So well done you.

Don't forget to celebrate by spending some!

Many thanks for your kind words. I have historically also been a long term holder until, I'm guessing, the last 7 years or so and then have changed my views, behaviours and strategy towards this stock, buying and selling and thankfully making various degrees of profit along the way. The catalyst of my change from being a long term non-reactive holder to actively intermittent trading, being that of the regular turnover and tenure of the CEO's of this company being a significant, but not sole, factor.

I genuinely wish you every success with the future and echo your thoughts that money is for spending... albeit perhaps not all in one day! 😂

razzledaz: Every share transaction has it’s own individual journey. And what a journey this one has been for me. At one stage staring at a loss of £41,000 and then finally checking out this morning with a £11,000 profit! 2 week no-fly MSC Cruise booked from Southampton departing Saturday 12th July. Marriage Guidance Appointment postponed… rather than cancelled! Good Luck My Friend.

Thank God it's Friday... yes i remember your electric fence /cattle prod analogy well. I can't believe that it was circa 4 years ago. Absolutely scary!

Listening to Bloomberg and the reactions to other European Banks that have reported and are due to report, It appears that when the results are announced on Wednesday, then the spotlight will be on the 'costs' of running the Bank more so than the anticipated 'beating estimates' values. So in theory, if costs are maintained and returns are higher than expected then my magic number of 311p, i would expect, should show it's face.

That said, the market will do whatever the market wants to do. How many times have we had 'good numbers' and the price has been kicked up the @rse?

"the comb-over toddler" just made me laugh out loud! 🤣 Well Done You!

306p is a fair Sell price and i'm not knocking it, you go for it. That said my simplistic plot lines see that as close to a "crossroads" price i.e. if it exceeds and closes above 306p then a further leg-up in the direction towards 330p (not in one day) should be possible with the usual caveats of Trump grenades.

I would expect this stock to gain more positive momentum in the next few days, albeit at an unknown rate of speed, right up until close of Business on Tuesday 29th April i.e. Just before Q1 results are announced the following Morning.

If everything goes to plan for me, then I would expect my automatic Sell Limit Order to be triggered at 311p (with/without trailing stop) on or before c.o.b. Tuesday 29th April. I will adopt the classic Buy on Rumour- Sell on News approach for this trade. If it continues to rise, then so be it... another day another trade.

Note to self - There is a very fine line between bravery and stupidity.

One thing is for sure, of all my trades, over all the years i really have not enjoyed this current live one, one single little bit.

Morning All,

Hope everyone is well despite the self-induced absolute havoc of the last 3 weeks (doesn't is seem/feel so much longer?) created my one Mr Donald J Trump and his notorious so called 'Liberation Day'... one to tell the Grandchildren about?

This relief rally appears to be back on track with the USA Futures Markets all looking positive at the opening bell this afternoon, albeit who knows when the relief rally will come to an end?

Anyway, having seen my "investment" drop in value by circa by circa £41,000 😱when the share hit an intra-day low of 223.75p on Monday 7th April, i'm almost back to my purchase price of 296.35p which if not met this afternoon, then i feel should be any day soon PRIOR to the Q1 Profits announcement of the morning of next Wednesday 30th April 2025.

To prevent a future appointment being booked in with Marriage Guidance I have decided to apply a Sell Limit Order at 311p/circa 5% return/circa £7k net profit until close of business on Wednesday 30th April. I may tinker with it and include a trailing Stop element to it.

Ignoring the craziness of the last three weeks, i still feel that 330p will arrive, but with the Trump antics likely to continue to spook the markets, I'm not sure i want to "enjoy" the ride.

Anyway, with the US Banks showing positive Q1 returns and cautious optimism for the future, along with most of the Big Trading Houses "rotating" their Equity funds element from the US to Europe to some Defense Stocks and Banks, then further upward movement is likely.

I stress that this is not a form of guidance, suggestion or advice purely my own think aloud thoughts. Please do your own research and Good Luck All.

Tomorrow, especially the afternoon is the one for reactions, if any, by the market for this stock because of what LBC refer to as the "non-though out actions of the Mango Mussolini". I would hope everything is already priced in? But who knows? And who can tell?

I hope you are well my friend.

If you replace "everyone" with "someone"... then yes. I believe that this is temporary phase but also a volatile one predominantly, but not totally, caused by the Trump chaos. As for recovery, it all depends on how you define a recovery?Before "investing" which in my mind swing trading is more "gambling", you need to understand and expand on your strategy .

Some of the questions/thoughts that come to mind include but are not limited to:

1. You are risking capital do not forget this.

2. How much capital are you prepared to risk/lose/dilute?

3. What is your horizon/timescales to get a return?

4. What is your minimum return be it percentage or pounds?

5. If you are trading outside of an ISA, and you are NOT spread-betting, you can only currently have a paltry £3k worth of Capital Gains Tax Allowance profit before Capital Gains kicks in at.

6. As of 30.10.24 the tax you must declare/pay on any gains are at 18% and 24% as a basic rate and higher rate tax payer respectively.

7. What is your strategy?

8. Ensure your strategy remains fluid rather than rigid. Sentiment drives Momentum both can change very quickly.

Personally during the month of March I have missed opportunities to buy low and sell high, on at least 3 occasions albeit obtaining a 5%+ return rather than 10% return on a big lump of capital.

I see news coming down the pipe which "should" move the share price including the usual monthly Base Rate, Inflation Rate numbers but more importantly the quarterly earnings numbers for Banks. Firstly in the USA next week, i believe and then the UK towards April month end.

There are clearly more questions raised here than answers you seek. But you need to show a little more leg before anyone can advise whether your trousers fit?

Just remember that hope is NOT a strategy.

Not sure whether any of my ramblings help? However i stress, i come in peace and wish you and all share traders of all variety health, wealth and prosperity.

There are so many ways to trade the market. It depends what you are trying to achieve, in what timescale and what capital you are prepared to risk.

My personal views, for what they are worth, would be at the start of the trading process:

Keep it simple.

Stick to UK shares.

Stick to Stock with good liquidity and daily trading volumes.

Stick to Stocks with short spreads between Buy and Sell values.

Avoid AIM stocks.

Make sure you understand how the Stocks you are buying make money.

Do NOT have FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out.

Each trading day brings a new trading opportunity.

Any decision to Buy or Sell should be instant. If in doubt, do nowt!
