Thanks for your thoughts CJ66. Well they say share dealing is often just about the right timing. Having pondered for a cple of weeks I finally took some of my profit from Burford shares yesterday afternoon. And what happens.... they rise 1.5 % yesterday ; then 5% today ! Thankfully i didnt take out any profit in the Burford shares i hold in my siip ( currently up a staggering 43% in just over a year ) . But Im happy i took some profit and will use it to pay for my holiday deposit. Onwards and upwards guys !

Sitting watching my profit dwindle down fast. Is it just profit taking or any bad news ?

Hopefully. It seems to go up a little bit then down again. Guess we have been spoilt over the last 12 months or so. Promised myself to take some profit after a cple days rising but missed the moment. So me , hating taking profit when a share rises.

What would be nice is a tip in one of the big papers in their tips for 2018. What will happen is people , like me, look at their portfolios this time of year. Who could resist a share like Burford that keeps rising 100% each year ?!

Thanks John. As usual my timing is poor. Im watching it daily now to see if it edges back up and then take some profit in my cash shares ( as opposed to SIIP) Im happy to sit on them for now otherwise. Have a great xmas all...lets hope we see the same rises next year !

I never got round to taking mt 400 pounds profit. Now sat on 230 which is still good . He who hesitates eh Rodders. Hopefully they will get tipped in the end of year newspapers

Im probably the classic crowd follower when it comes to shares. I buy a share based on previous 12 months charts, enjoy seeing it rise a bit more, but then sit and watch it go down , holding on hoping it will rise backup . Then eventually sell for a loss just as the share rises backup I know Buffet etc say you shoukd hold for a minimum of 2 years or more Will have a look at that book ..thanks I have a relatively big holding in Burford both in my siip and cash. Hoping to keep my nerve for another year at least

Another dip down today. Im sure there are plenty of other small investors getting a bit twitchy. There was no way this share couldve sustained its rising . Just hope it at least levels out soon .

Looks like all shares are down today. Down 3% is not great, but these shares have risen so much you will allways get profit taking. If u look at the 12 months graph they do dip for a short period then recover and rise back up.

Hello all. Its si goid to have a forum where people actually post stuff about a share. Especially for smaller investors like me. I have this share in my SIIP as well as my trading account. So tempted buy even more , but wary that it cant just go on rising...or can it ?

Hello Mike. Thank you for the quick and informative reply. It does sound different to what ive invested before, but I am tempted by their excellent performance recently. Im planning on doing 3 'safer' funds, but then 2 wildcards - and i think that could well be one.

Hi all. Im just going to buy some Funds for my SIIP, and came across this one as looking as a great performer over the last 18 months, tho beyond that looks poor. What I cant seem to find out (and pardon my ignorance here) is what shares they actually hold e.g are they UK / North America , and in what sector. Just as I am trying to spread my load across the sectors. The last year performance is amazing, and Im afraid I can be a bit of a sheep following the herd ! So any positives about them gratefully welcomed. baaa baaa !

They say shares is all about timing, well I bough some BIOG shares about a month ago, having been very impressed with their long term share performance. Unfortunatley they have gone down 9% since I bough them. Just wondered if anybody more experienced than me has any views on why the current dip ? Thanks.
