I must agree with you, the speculators are pushing this one up at the moment. The fundamentals are sound, but it is a crowded market,and countries, such as China, are ramping up production of solar and associated products. This is an innovator's market. If this company can prove it can innovate, then I would need to reconsider and say the share price is warranted. But then again, in LEDs, you are up against the Japanese and Koreans, who have great skills and committment here. The bulk leds, like the fibre optics components (recall Marconi?) is a commodities business. You can turn that gear out in your shed while doing the barbecue. For my money, playing long and short (a la the times website the Shortview) I personally, would be wary of property until I see someone buying up big - such as the Arabs. If the Arabs start wading in, then they are looking for long-term investments and will pay the going price. If not, judge it for yourself. The UK economy would have to clip along at a growth rate of 3+ percent. But as for trusting managers (and politicians) each to their own. Please do not change your strategy because of me. As a nation, the UK have an infatutation with property and that alone can sustain a rise. Ihope all your investments pay off. And if I were you and I was sure about my bets, I would disregard all voices, including mine, that may turn out to be totally wrong. Trust your experience and your own convictions. That's what I do. It was these directors who were in charge and took on immense debt to buy and build and now they are lumbered with huge overcapacity. I would sooner trust a goat than the overwhelming majority of these managers, who buy stock at preferential rates in any case (part of their contract). Take a walk around the City and West End and grab an eyeful of the amount of office space for rent. Vanancy rates are high, rents are sinking, and the buyers of property, who know their game, are just waiting and squeezing the likes of British Land on the reasonable assumption that debt repayment (covenants) loom large in the not too distant future, and they will have to sell at a considerable markdown. This goes for the banks also. There is not other way but to flush out the system of glut and toxicity. Quantitative Easing and cheap money has a high price, sooner or later. Commercial property is coupled to the banking sector, the latter who still have a overhang on their books but are not revealed at true (current) disposable worth. I see gyrations for the commercial sector as a whole, with residential picking up (people need somewhere to live, after all). The glut in commercial property must out at some time, so I put a price of 350 - 390 on this stock before committing to buy. It is still just too volatile and so margings must reflect this.

The stock seems to lumbering under a sector inertia, the result mainly of the uncertainty surrounding how the covenants and loans will be handled (rolled-over). Moreover, there is still a great deal of commercial property that is vacant, and not enough buyers will to pay what the property companies are asking. The solution would be for the banks to accept properties in lieu of cash, priced at current book values. But then the banks would be left holding a lot of property their would be forced to write down. This is a tricky one to deal with, and only time will tell, only time will heal. WIth the glut of good commercial property on the market, vacancy rates high, and investors, especially from the Middle East who have a (normal!) fetish for London property remaining on the sidelines, I can't see what can keep the stock where it is save for an abuandance of bluff and hot air. Buyers of property are out there waiting to buy, but they refuse to pay current rates and they are of the conviction that property prices will go down as firms will need to raise cash to cover their various covenants with the banks. I am all for Greeks, but let me suggest that given that Asia is the motor pulling the world out from the brink of slump, and with the Asian giant, China, now intensively developing and actively cultivating its own domestic internal market, a-la the USA internal domestic empire, transportation within borders than those linking states seem to be the real growth area. I think at this point a bet on Siemen's would be better placed. Like it or not, the world is over-stocked up on some great shipped moored and waiting for the good old days to return. We need to scrap a lot of tonnage before that can happen (in tandem with a resumption of global trade). May I suggest while you are waiting for this to happen you avail yourself of the opportunity to learn Greek. It will do you the world of good. Good luck to everyone!

GKN is, like Rolls Royce, embedded in good fundamentals, and is it these facts of corporate reality that will previal in teh medium and long term. Our infatuation with 'glam' business and finance have been discredited somewhat, and they will need to reinvent themselves. GKN can easily surpass 200+ pence. The world will always need engineers and smart engineering.

The stock is picking up because traders are buying, but the boards and tickers and not registering this. This whole game - and it is a game - is really a psychological games and dare or do or resisit. Once fear and doubts creeps into your head, that is the danger point. Confidence is all. I share your sentiments entirely. Stock prices appear to be essentially manipulated by the 'Big Boys' who consider the stock market their realm. The trick is to see how and what they are up to, and to work around them accordingly, because they are simply too big (and too greedy) to do anything else. Play it smart and play it cool.

The competencies that Qinetiq has fold easily into the modern emphasis on UAVs, in particular, and UAVs, as we know (or are learning) will have many, many civil applications. For Qinetiq to filly exploit its capabilities, it either must become something similar to Arm Holdings, or find some industrial heft that will do justice to Qinetiq's talents. Somewhere along the line, one or the other must happen.

This company recently conducted a rights issue, and it went successfully. The company has a host of technologies and products, and I would rate it as a buy for any long term investor. You can apportion dividends and stock (sales) as required, but I am sure the stock will raise over time as UK PLC pushes forward manufacturing.

This company at some point either expands its breadth of operations, or it will be taken over or amalgamate with another weighty firm, such as BAE systems or a European defnece company. This stock is bombed out and looks absolutely hopeless!

British Land has some excellent assets, and they retain long term value. When the economy picks up, its valuation of assets will increase and that should reduce debt and leveraging quite considerably. London did not take quite the knock that New York did, and when the economy picks up, London will grow faster.

This is a good stock, and I think will make steady progress during an upturn.

Today, we had incredible gyrations and this seems to have been achieved with no more thatn 5 million shares being traded. We effectively has a ten percent swing in high to low for a company (under)valued at around 25 billion pounds and with a total share capital of over 1.3 billion. This is a classic case of the tail wagging the elephant. This is not trading, nor is it gambling or speculating. It's a fix somewhere.

We need to see an earnings uptick or a sale of assets at reasonable prices to get this stock moving back up. They have some good properties and there are always buyers on the horizon.
