Leaving aside distractions, historical narratives, and prejudices: what have we left? We have an innovative management team intent on effectively Americanising this company. Firstly, make it lean. Secondly, secure cash flow (Quinetiq by definition is engaged in long term on-going contracts - the nature of the security business). Then move to a model where able employees are encouraged to perform and reward them with stock. This is typical in many software firms, such as Microsoft, for example, or even Logica. The management is re-orientating the firm towards a business model that works in the modern world, and not chained to past bureaucratic mores of Whitehall mandarins. Cameron et al typify this paradigm shift. Feisty winners will emerge from their general budgeetary sqeeze (and re-allocation of resources and incentives), and the management of Qunietiq are determined to be among them, if for no other reason than they will be most handsomely rewarded as a result. Self-interest always wins the day. Whatever your personal status as regards this company, I wish you and all and sundry well. For my own self, I am sticking with this stock as long as this present management is in place. Have a nice day.
