300k in an ISA? I thought ISA's are limited to around 25k and one can only have one. Also, that would mean having all eggs in the same basket. Not sure if that is wise these days. Imagine the institute holding your ISA goes bust. It's because of the reason, that banks are so wonky in regards to their own financial situations, these days, that I hold only personal important docs in my bank, as in the event of a collapse that content may be added to added to the liquidation mass, as we have seen it happened some years ago in Cyprus. My nuggets, 30 pieces of silver and a solid amount of cash, are best off with me stashed in various safe places. Other than that I bank with three institutes. Having spread it thinly, makes me sleep better ;)

seamus, I think your target of 500K is spot on. Double that and the taxman would be so on your case, that it would feel like having 500k "only", anyway lol. Wasn't there a formular, as to how much one should own to lead an independent life? Something like: 10% gold, 30% Silver and 70% cash? (30% silver....well, that fits ;-) )

Christmas Business is done and dusted. Even for folks who would order presents now, it would be a close shave. seamus, to buy free of mortgage, I managed to do in the 90s and it took me 10 years to get there. I have elaborated about that. What I do now is to see if this is still possible today, starting off with very little investments. So far I'd say: "Absolutely,it is!" I have currently invested less than £1000 since I first posted in here and I have £500 to invest. Considering that my 'allowance' (the monies I have agreed with my hubby to start off with) was £300, I don't think I have done too badly. My investment strategy has changed, but it is no less crazy. Seamus...give another 20 years and I'll buy my Mansion ;)

I'm not really up to date with the Amigo news. I want to invest today, but the Bushveldt and Pan African are going up when I'd like them to go down. They'd only go down if I was to buy, but so would Amigo. The shares I buy always go down shortly after I buy. No idea why that is :-)

Hi tradeuk, I have also gone for Bushveldt (Vanadium for Vanadium Radox Batteries) and I know somebody on here also went for them after I mentioned the company. The world is changing. Makes me feel gutted, because I love my petrol burning Honda Civic VTec :-)

To be honest, seamus, I have thought not to invest into anything in EU-Europe. There is this strange feeling creeping up in me, that Brexit may be one of many, if the construct doesn't collapse before that.
Where the financial market is concerned, the EU wants new rules and Ursula von der Leyen has given the task to write them up to no other but Blackrock. This could be good news on the long shot :D

I just spotted a company that seems to have entered the London Main Market today and thought I'd let you know, in case you don't know yet. The new kid on the block is called Tirupati Graphite PLC and mines ... guess what ;-) ... yes, graphite ;-) . Graphite is needed for lithium batteries and they see their future markets in Europe and USA. I have not done any research on the company. Just thought I'd let my amigos know.

Mulletman, my research is excellent. The problem is not the lithium, the weight comes from the graphite these batteries require. I anticipated this would be common knowledge. Therefore please accept my apologise if I have confused you.

And don't forget Gold Mines... ;) Pan African Resources and Greatthingibobwhatnot ;) With things getting more and more digital, gold is needed not only for jewellery ;-) same for Quartz ;-)

Best_Guess, yes, they're not yet on the share market, but they already seemed to have had private investment. It's DEFO worth keeping a very keen eye on this company. This lithium seems to be one a purest and most highest level found on Earth. With the new mobility (leccy vehicles) and need to store electricity produced by renewable stations, this is a winner. Only a few days ago Boris Johnson said that as of 2030 we won't be able to buy fossil fuel burning cars anymore and the fluctuation of the renewables will require massive storage batteries. For the same reason, keep an eye on Vanadium. This is a trace mineral that is present anywhere in the world, but in most parts so faint, the extracting it is not worth it. Vanadium was used in the steel production, but they seem to have swerved to something less expensive. Now they found that Vanadium can also be used for batteries and it is much, much lighter and doesn't overheat as much as the usual lithium/graphite variety. I invested into Bushveldt (BMN) for Vanadium.
