I’m keeping my head held as high as possible. It has been a rough week. This would be the turnaround of the century if it turns out that way lol. I can only assume Mooky is probably hurting most out of everyone. CINE is a family business that Mooky and his family acquired and merged with their own business. Going into administration or anything like that is effectively getting their family business that they built from zero taken away from them.

There comes a time where optimism runs out. I’m not at that point yet. Someone here mentioned that Mooky could be playing one heck of a poker hand here, but I feel like wiping out 86% of your equity value in 3 days is a very significant move.

But here is the interesting thing, there are no TR-1s. No institutional investor is selling. Many here say ‘sell now so you leave with something’ but institutional investors are not doing such, and they probably still have a few million rattling around in their positions.

I’m seriously hopeful that CINE gets emergency funding. This is a very short-term issue, up until November. I think even just £100-200m could take the company through. Lenders have supported us for 2 years, so why pull the plug with just 3 months of difficulty on the horizon? Nice reminder too that we were cash flow positive in Q4 last year with a decent film slate. The company can still be profitable, which is what gives me some hope that someone somewhere is looking at CINE and hoping to throw a lifeline. If I had the money to support I would have done so.

No RNS because it appears that CINE never wants to talk. We even still don’t know what happened to the RCF and dissenting payment.

Wow, this was something unexpected on my part. You cannot make comparisons to Thomas Cook and McColls here because the former had low profit margins (from memory) and the latter had a business model that wasn’t working. CINE has neither.

Unless if the banks have decided that CINE is genuinely finished due to the high interest cost to the company. Even still, lenders could be lenient with interest payments and give us some time. If they co-operate, then CINE will be more than able to make it through. Yes, everyone may be annoyed at the management, but remember that it was the same management that got us through COVID.

Usually, with such rumours of bankruptcy CINE should release an RNS responding to the media speculation. I think over the weekend CINE will see what to say and send it out on Monday.

In my opinion, let’s just let all the negative individuals have their day today and perhaps tomorrow when the dust settles we can have a proper discussion. I anticipate a lot of rapacious deramping here today…

Not very happy with the RNS personally, but for me I think it is still all or nothing. I don’t think I’m selling today.

You need to remember that CINE is in court to try and get a fine lowered. Publishing an RNS like this is proof that they genuinely cannot pay the fine, as they are talking about potential dilution even without the fine, so this could help CINE’s hand in negotiations with Cineplex potentially. It could also give rise to a decent payment plan in the case we still need to pay some of the fine.

We were just discussing yesterday that Mooky has a heck of a lot of shares. He won’t dilute the stock unless it is absolutely the final and last option in my opinion.

We have to wait and see what happens. Already down about 60%, so whatever today brings, I think it will be fairly negligible to the current state of my investment. I think many of us are in the same place.

Wow @BlueBuxton, that is quite a lot.

Current sp is really low, but I have been resisting the urge to buy. CINE is about 35% of my portfolio right now and it was much higher before, I’m trying to get it down to a reasonable level because right now it feels like my portfolio is mostly dependent on what CINE does.

It’s just the fact that Mooky is holding that still gives at least a degree of reassurance. Even more so the institutional investors, not a single share sold from them.

My fear is also selling and then the next day an RNS emerges saying an out of court settlement has been reached or something equivalent. I’m down over 60%, so at this point it is just better to wait and see, all or nothing really, this sp has been so degraded that it is actually encouraging people to stay rather than leave.

They will always find something to twist. Nisan could go on top of Big Ben tomorrow and announce CINE has just found $10bn in a printer tray and we would still see green boxes here :)

Here comes the talk about high debt again. This has been spoken about and settled long ago. When assets are taken into account, CINE is actually leveraged slightly less than average compared to other cinema companies.

I will continue to hold my investment. Volume is extremely low so everyone is holding and not letting up.

This is effectively just the calm before the storm, whether it’s a storm that will cause the sp to increase or decrease, we don’t know.

Patience is all that is required I guess, at least we know we’re getting an RNS in September lol

@mir, I assume an out of court settlement is negotiated directly between Cineplex and Cineworld. Selling the claim would offset that negotiation to someone else (whoever buys the claim) and it would be up to them either to pursue an out of court settlement or continue with court.

Selling the claim is not something I thought possible, but if it is it could be a great thing.

Cineplex also knows that the amount is ridiculous, selling the claim is a win-win-win, because Cineplex gets something pretty much instantly when they sell the claim, the entity purchasing the claim gets to choose their own damages for an out of court settlement and can choose something like $150m for $100m purchase as RS gave as an example, and CINE stands to pay a potentially smaller amount, so everyone wins is the way I see it.

The big advantage for Cineplex is not needing to wait for the money, even if they did an out of court settlement with CINE directly for something like $150-200m they would still need to wait a few years to get it, by selling the claim the payout would come straight away I surmise.

Despite the fact that CINE is actually leveraged less relative to it’s assets when compared to other comparable companies, we should absolutely buy the statement of this unknown and seemingly well-informed individual! Come on LTHs, get with the times!

@Tegop, I read that the APE shares conversion still needs to be approved, and if not successful, investors are going to be left holding a lot of preferred units that can’t be converted?

Cineplex is sounding positive, it does look like the AMC results are perhaps down to poor management.

AMC is now just snapping up the same shareholders that saved them in the first place. From what I understand they are issuing new equity and presenting it like a dividend. Apparently these ‘preferred equity units’ can be converted into normal equity, but that still needs to be approved. Either way, they are diluting shareholders on top of what they were being diluted before this, I feel pity for the shareholders that may end up being left holding the bag, particularly with this new preferred equity they’ve issued. If AMC was wanting to issue a dividend, why not do it in a standard manner?

Cineplex is holding a webcast today alongside their Q2 results at 10am EST (3pm BST).

This leads you to the home page of their investor relations website, and you will see the link for the webcast front and centre. You need to register, the process is pretty much the same as Cineworld’s where you provide your name and email. For the company name I usually put ‘self’.

Will be interesting to see how they did, but I’m seriously hoping there is at least a mention of something related to the court case.

I think at least one analyst on the call will ask a question related to it, if there is anything significant Cineplex may include it in the main presentation, but I am expecting something at least to be asked in the Q&A section.

A part of me is strongly hoping they just say ‘hey, look at this out of court settlement we reached’, and it maybe could be that simple lol. Either way, just a bit of info would be nice. Let’s see what happens.
