I have posted several comments and given advice on how to identify someone suffering from Walter Mitty Syndrome (WALTS). We are perhaps unfortunate to have attracted a notorious WALT to this BB however he can be identified by the obvious untruths in his demented ramblings. A common symptom for suffers of Waltism is recanting their sins in their moments of reality. This is typically evidenced by extravagant promises of never doing it again. However as soon as the subject re-enters their fantasy world then they resort to their old habits. A good example of this sort of behaviour can be found in the pages of the MXP BB. A little research will reveal a serial poster who has repeatedly promised not to post again but always returns to the scene of his failures.

I suppose this means that MXP's Walter Mitty will be moving his fantasies to somewhere else on this BB. If anyone spots him please post it here so I can drop in and wish him well.

However recent anecdotal evidence indicates that people with this syndrome may have been subjected to both physical or sexual abuse. Those who were abused in their youth are more likely to suffer from Waltism however it is not unknown for adults who are currently being abused to resort to the fantasy world of Waltism to escape their persecutors. Typical symptoms will be exaggerated claims of wealth, status or high profile employment.This will be accompanied by claims of exotic and frequent travel. Should you encounter anyone displaying these symptoms you should encourage them to seek assistance and reassure them that the authorities will take their complaints of abuse very seriously.

While there is no known cure for Waltism all sufferers will eventually return to what passes for sanity in their world. When this happens it is advisable to follow the guidance offered to humanity in the good book- "Feed not the Troll and the Walt".

Recent research into Walter Mitty Syndrome(Waltism) has revealed that the health of a person suffering from this complaint can be compromised if they are abruptly and unsympathetically disabused of their fantasy. Much like waking a sleepwalker the effects can be very serious. However no attempts should be made to reinforce of validate the fantasies of a person suffering from Waltism. Such actions will only cause the sufferer to slip into a deeper delusional state withdrawal from which will only be more difficult and prolonged. Therefore the best advice is that should you encounter someone that you suspect may be suffering from Waltism and is posting comments on this, or any other BB, DO NOT respond or reply to any of their fantasies. A helpful tip in identifying a Walt is that they generally confine their comments to just one equity since this helps maintain the illusion in their minds. Additionally they will be making a disproportionately large number of posts on an almost daily basis. Clicking on their name will bring up their posting history. Be careful out there and remember just as with Trolls feeding a Walt will only make things worse.

So the well known WALT who claims to have considerable wealth including land, buildings, luxury cars, a private aircraft, a business and an investment portfolio of 20 plus dividend growth stocks confines them self to only making comments on this BB about MXP. 32 posts in 30 days. That's the trouble with being a WALT, just too easy to spot LOL.

Association of Walter Mitties (WALTS) have provided myself and many others with endless amusement over the years. I normally encounter them masquerading as ex members of the Armed Forces however there is no reason why they shouldn't inhabit a BB. In fact a financial BB is probably quite a good place for them and better than disrespecting real heroes by wearing medals to which they are not entitled. However I don't think we should be too hard on them because just like your average nutter your average WALT can be a dead good laugh.

at the outset. I have a couple of hundred pounds here at an average of 0.2p. It was either MXP or putting £200 on the favourite in the 3:30 at Ascot (which came second by the way). Consequently I have been monitoring the BB in the possible hope of news or enlightenment and in the sure and certain knowledge that I would get endless entertainment. Anyhoo here is a question that is perplexing me. Why would a person who claims to have considerable wealth including land, buildings, luxury cars, a business and an investment portfolio of 20 plus dividend growth stocks confine themselves to only making 28 comments in the last 30 days on this BB. Not only that but all those posts have been about MXP where said person claims to have only 1 share. Come back Walter Mitty, all is forgiven. All IMHO of course and GLA in whatever your endeavours are.
