Trumps main problem seems rooted in trade deficit with China, so any major deals that would help address that deficit may be very much on the agenda. Not talking about our farmout in that, but the gasline project, but for all we know the two may be very much connected when it comes to decision making for Sinopec. Pure speculation of course!

MM, that's a fair point. But Sinopec will be heavily influenced by the Chinese government, and most probably they will have to give the go-ahead to Sinopec even bidding on such a project given the current state of trade relations.

I'm coming round to the idea that they could be one of the parties in the data room, and if so then they would appear to have good reason to be asking for a time extension.

However, we now know that there are multiple parties interested, so even if they are there and make us an offer, doesn't mean they will get it!

Yes it'd be a nice Christmas present if it were to happen. But realistically we're talking about latest day for news being tomorrow before everyone in a position to sign off on the deal packs up for Christmas. So unless they're all in a massive rush to clear the decks of paperwork this week, we won't hear anymore until next year. And when have we known JLP to be in a massive rush too do anything?

True MM, there's no sign of trump letting up at the moment. It may be that the Chinese continue to play hardball and end up cutting virtually all ties to the US, so this deal would be dead in the water. It may be that it gets settled with a trade off deal, and the Chinese commit to huge expenditure in the US economy in the form of infrastructure. Impossible to tell at the moment how its going to go, they've gone so far now that both sides are going to want an outcome that they can call a victory.

Been reading up on this, could be worth keeping an eye on any developments.

Construction is planned between 2019 and 2025 with the proposed route coming through our acreage, and one of the main parties involved is Sinopec.

Looks like that's it for this year, its been rather eventful! But with no news on Sable yet, I can't imagine we'll get any more news now until January.

Next year is looking very promising, with high expectations of good news throughout Q1.

* Platcro chrome acquisition being completed early Jan and earnings to start coming in,

How do Great Bear have much more advanced prospects than us?

Are they on the verge of receiving multiple farm out bids from "Multiple high-quality parties active in the data room"?

The fact of the matter is that oil exploration is an expensive business, especially when you're talking about proving up billions of barrels across hundreds of thousands acres. Great bear don't have the money to do it. We don't have the money to do it. And Pantheon don't have the money to do it either.

Getting a partner on board through a farm out deal is the only route forward, and I would say with a fair degree of confidence that we are much more advanced along that route.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Q1 is lining up nicely to provide a great start to next year!

You could say then that we've had several multiples today. We've had news of:
- Multiple high-quality parties active in conventional data room
- drilling of multiple wells in the 2020 operating season
- Winx-1 will target multiple stacked potential objectives

The time extension isn't so bad and doesn't actually delay anything. We don't know it will be another 3 months either. It may be shorter than 3 months, Q1 starts in less than 2 weeks. And all the parties interested now know (if they didn't already) that there are others preparing bids, which can only be a good thing for us and improves DWs negotiating position.

The biggest question now is what will come first, Winx drill or the farmout?

At the moment I'd guess on Winx coming in first, but only because we know a two week window of mid to end of Feb is the target for drilling to start, which is obviously a much narrower window than 1st Jan to 31st Mar.

Interesting, thanks Brom. I had thought the gas line project had been abandoned a few years ago. Apparently not, and it looks like the proposed route follows the oil pipeline through our acreage.

mikemike, I'm not sure we should read too much into the gas reference. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's a means of exporting the gas at the moment from Alaska.

Fair enough todays news wasn't the news we're waiting for, but there are a few bits of important news to settle much of the current speculation.

Firstly, official confirmation that there are multiple parties very interested, and they've asked for more time. Clearly there must be something of interest in the data room, or more time would not be needed by anyone to make their mind up and prepare an offer to us.

Secondly, the expectation has now been set that there will be multiple offers, and DW will be in a position to choose the best offer, rather than having to accept just anything we're luckily enough to get offered.

Thirdly, the HRZ unconventional is far from dead, and a farm out for that will also be going ahead next year. Its also pretty major news that we now know who they've bought in to review the data, and its Baker Hughes.

Its a bit quieter here now the SP has recovered the early loses. Where's all the people gone who were jumping up and down with glee when we were in the red? Surely they weren't buying whilst telling everyone what a bad investment this is?

The spread has really narrowed, so its going to be difficult to tell if anything is a buy or sell.

Just took a look at the general market today. On the FTSE100, 98 are down, only 2 are up. And I can only see 10 up on the wider FTSE250.

Today was perhaps not a good day for any kind of news, and we're not actually doing too badly in comparison to the rest of the market.
