This was announced yesterday. I’m not entirely sure if this is a new law or an extension to include LLCs as being required to obtain approval where the company is being sold either by owners who are May include those from unfriendly countries or where the buyer is not Russian.

A deal wouldn’t happen without full government support even without this law anyway but thought I’d share as our new Kola entities were both LLCs as far as a I remember.

There’s a bit more news being published about Sakhalin recently Mac. Nothing to say it’s EUA related but it’s topical at least. From yesterday:

"More than 90 percent of foreign investment entering the Far East is investments from China," he said in an interview with Russia-24 TV channel within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF).
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed, TASS reports, that the Far East has also not interrupted economic ties with any country in the Asia-Pacific region (APR). According to him, the number of projects continues to arrive "both in Korea and Japan, Vietnam, cooperation in India is developing."

The deputy PM previously supported of EUA’s Sakhalin project so hopefully that is still the case. Be good to get a decent update as part of the interims.

No mention of whether it’s green or blue hydrogen or any involvement of EUA suggested but it’s a start if China are investing in the sector and on Sakhalin. Agreement signed at the Eastern Economic Forum today.

Russia plans to export low-carbon hydrogen to China

JSC Rusatom Overseas (part of Rosatom State Corporation) and China Energy Company (part of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CEEC)) signed a memorandum of understanding, which lays the foundations for the development of cooperation on a pilot project for the construction of a hydrogen plant in Sakhalin.

It will be interesting to see if the Japanese do anything in addition to maintaining their existing interests on Sakhalin. They along with South Korea are referenced by the Head of the Ministry of Eastern Development in the run up to this weeks Eastern Economic Development Forum:

Herbie20017, try adding some spinach or cabbages to your diet. I’m not sure if it will help with your day trading but it won’t hurt your general well-being which is the most import thing. Even if your day trading is not going terribly well then at least the benefits of some ruffage might improve your general mood.

It would be good to see the accounts Mac, hopefully they will be uploaded to the Rosgeo site. I can’t see the financials on the website yet but they might be show some interesting info. Snippet from the article:

French partner Air Liquide is leaving the pilot projects but Rosatom is still progressing them. Foreign partners mentioned:

“Rosatom abandoned "the concept of a single supplier" and continues to work on the project independently with the participation of a number of Russian and foreign partners, the comment says.”

Mention of Japan (discussions could be pre-war or current - it’s not clear):

“Low-carbon hydrogen from the Sakhalin project may be in demand in Asia-Pacific countries, supplies have been discussed with partners from Japan and Korea since 2025, said Yevgeny Pakermanov, President of Rosatom Overseas.”

Also mentions discussions with metallurgy companies:

“As previously reported, in general, Rosatom is considering about ten pilot projects in the field of hydrogen energy. Anton Moskvin, Vice President of Rosatom Overseas, noted in January that the company is now developing these projects. According to him, the company is working on research in the field of transportation and production of large volumes of hydrogen, as well as with metallurgical enterprises.”

Full article below. Main thing for me is at least there are hydrogen projects being progressed. Also we know Rosatom has a JV with NN for lithium in Murmansk and other projects related to the northern sea route so could be some kind of link in theory but who knows.

That’s good news DavePenny. It could be argued that in this case Russia may need the investment and outside input as much as Japan needs the LNG to have allowed these agreements be transferred. Hopefully something similar will happen in EUAs case.

LNG rather than hydrogen related but at least they are staying on the island and were able to keep their assets despite being a Japanese company.

Morning all. Bit more news on the Sakhalin LNG contracts since the change in operator. So far the contracts don’t appear to disadvantage the Japanese:

One difference with the above saying that payment can be made in currencies other than dollars but they’re not pushing for payment roubles, GBP, Euros or Yen are mentioned as alternatives.

Can’t be a bad thing for EUA if Japan does end up continuing to invest in Russian natural resources. Even if our buyer isn’t Japanese it sets a prescient that Russia can do businesses even where the other party is from a country that has implemented sanctions.

FWIW, bit of a surprise to read this, would be interested to know if this is true for all sectors including mineral resources but potentially good news for EUA anyway:
