Oddly I agree with you - anyone still invested here, after all the delays and dilution, and awful SP performance clearly knows the risks - and of course the possible upside.

It ranges from a block buster well and sidetrack with oodles of gas to sell above the hedge to complete disaster with the financiers wiping us out (as with N Yorks potash etc). And we'll have a good idea in 17days time which one it is.

rates from 8 years ago are only a weak guide- but I 'd be more worried about rig and crew availability than cost. Plus of course they need a bunch of permissions. IIRC people normally start prep about 6 months before spud offshore so, as you say, if they haven't been working on the side nothing will happen this year. I still think they need to buy some production - yes, it will cost them but we can't risk suddenly having NO production

IHS are showing circa $ 200,000 a day to hire a semi. West of Shetland's you'll need something towards the top of the scale so say $ 250k - but hats just the rig - it doesn't include the helicopters, the tugs, the supplies and of course the huge wedge you pay to Schlumberger to log the well. A useful rule of thumb is that the rig cast is 50% of the total cost when rig rates are high but only 30% when rig rates are low. So for a 30 day well now lest say 40%. That works out as US$ 18.75 mm - that's dry hole.

But you can't drill AND test for that - you might be looking at 50 days - US$ 32 mm - then there is the cost of the tie-back etc etc

Man Alive!! This is AIM!!!!! At least we're not beset by multiple leaks to mates like say UJO or the constant drip, drip of dilution by so many small oilers.

Far too many companies on AIM are run PURELY for the owners and employees - and their supporting "help" in the stock broking, legal and financial sectors.

Since the court case the BoD can't do anything without clearing it with CA - who are only concerned with THEIR money- changing the monkey on top of the piano isn't going to make any difference I'm afraid

there was a load of stuff published 10-12 years ago by the various companies involved - all trying to whip up a farminee. And IIRC the company that actually managed drilling the wells (Aberdeen something or other) also put out some stats

I think he'd go if he had to raise cash from "investors" rather than the stock market. The evidence is they avoid having anyone question the company and they'd hate having a big investor looking over their shoulders
