GREAT SOUTHERN6 Apr 2025 17:02
What Are the Odds of an RNS This Week?
• Viuda Prospect:
• Drilling commenced: 7th November 2024
• 10 holes planned, 800–1,500m
• Porphyry-style target, large alteration halo
• Standard assay turnaround = 6–10 weeks
• We’re now 20+ weeks on, making it highly likely (>90%) that assays have been received, analysed, and are being prepared for a market announcement.
• Mostaza Mine (Cerro Negro)
• Phase 1 drilling results released in February 2025 – included shallow high-grade copper and silver intercepts.
• GSCU announced further work including metallurgical testing and follow-up drilling supported by their £1.57M fundraise in March 2025.
Viuda assays are overdue, and Mostaza follow-ups are likely already underway.
Given GSCU’s pattern of batching news for impact, we could be in line for multi-project news soon, possibly this week.
WHAT THEY’VE FOUND SO FAR – AND WHY IT’S SIGNIFICANT
Viuda (Especularita Project)
• Surface rock chip highlights:
• 3.5% Cu
• 13.85 g/t Au
• 56.6 g/t Ag
• 18% of 55 samples returned >1% Cu
• Mapped a 2km-wide porphyry alteration system with central siliceous zones, silica-sericite-clay envelopes, and stockwork/breccia zones — classic porphyry indicators
• Drill hole VIU24_RC001 intersected massive pyrite-albite-clay alteration from surface – a strong early sign of porphyry-style mineralisation
Porphyry systems are the backbone of global copper supply. If this model holds, Viuda could host a multi-million tonne deposit, the kind that attracts majors and underpins long-term value.
Mostaza Mine (Cerro Negro)
• Phase 1 RC drilling confirmed:
• 8m @ 1.01% Cu & 29.6 g/t Ag
• 1m @ 2.07% Cu & 127 g/t Ag
• Historical underground development is accessible and mineralised
• Follow-up exploration is being accelerated with new capital, and includes:
• Metallurgical test work
• Planning for a potential maiden JORC resource
• Further drilling to test down-dip and lateral extensions
Mostaza offers near-surface, high-grade copper and silver, ideal for early-stage development. It has the potential to become GSCU’s first defined resource and a low-cost path to production or JV.
MARKET BACKDROP
Copper is back in favour driven by global electrification, tight supply chains, and critical mineral policies worldwide. GSCU is well-positioned in Chile, with:
• Multiple active prospects
• Large-scale porphyry potential (Viuda)
• Near-term high-grade potential (Mostaza)
• £1.57M raised to accelerate work
• A history of well-communicated, well-timed news
TL;DR:
• Chances of news this week are now 90%+
• Assay results from Viuda
• Follow-up drilling/metallurgy at Mostaza
• Potential JV interest or expansion plans
• Viuda = potential company-maker
• Mostaza = possible first production asset
The news is overdue and could land any day now.
Good luck thi
