WolfofWarks - I've just checked the debt pile and somehow the group has managed o run up nearly $8B worth of debts. I find it astonishing that the debt pile is so high, i'm sure it was around $3B last time I checked. In that case CINE are in big big trouble. Even if they sell off all the Regal sites that would only pay off a fraction of the debt. Things are not looking so good after all. Outrageous that this family could run up so much debt, people's jobs and lives will be affected because of their downright incompetence and greed. I'm sure the family will be loaded for life even if the company does fold. It just ain't right, they should all be locked up.

@Tegop the Regal outlets alone are valued at £2.7B. If Cineplex were to aquire the Regal sites, I would hope the secured lenders would sell off most but not all of the sites. Hopefully, they would allow Cineworld to keep the Regal name which would mean Cineplex would have to change the name of the acquired outlets. It's a feasible option which would clear all the debts but there would still be the compensation claim outstanding. Another option would be to sell off most of the sites and clear the debts by 50% and pay off the compensation claim, although there is still a chance that the compensation claim could be reduced or even squashed after the appeal. There's a good chance Cineworld can survive this, things don't look as bad as they did at the beginning.

@poorinvestor - Yes, the situation is looking good for the Secured lenders, Cineplex, and Cineworld. But it's looking real bad for us poor investors (no pun). Let's just hope that Cineworld are still trading on the FTSE after they've had the guts ripped out of them, otherwise us investors will be left with absolutely nothing.

No weird **** going on at all. The date was always going to be pushed back as Cineworld are going through a restructuring program aided by a Court approved DIP facility. It also looks like Cineplex will be heavily involved in the program as they may be able to get a lot of Cineworld's outlets on the cheap.

Makes no sense to go to court with all this going on, as it's possible that by the time the restructuring is done, Cineplex could own a lot of Cineworld's outlets, which would essentially write off the compensation claim.

Mooky will have no say in which outlets are sold off, the decision will be in the hands of the Secured lenders. The less say he has the better, he's already got us into a right royal mess, I wouldn't trust him to run a bath.

Cineplex Inc. (TSX:CGX) has approached lenders of Cineworld Group plc (LSE:CINE) for a potential merger with Regal Entertainment Group, the Wall Street Journal reported on September 28, 2022. Cineworld and Cineplex have been locked in a multimillion-dollar legal battle since the London-listed company rescinded its offer to buy Cineplex more than two years ago. Cineworld has since been struggling to rein in massive debt and this month filed for bankruptcy in the United States.

Cineplex is in early talks with Cineworld's lenders about taking over Regal in exchange for debt and stock backed by the combined business, the WSJ reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Cineworld declined to comment on the report. Cineplex and Cineworld's restructuring adviser Alix Partners and financial adviser PJT Partners did not respond immediately to a Reuters request for comment.

This could turn out well for Cineworld and its shareholders. Selling off some outlets to Cineplex will help to reduce debts and maybe write them off altogether. It may also nullify the claim Cineplex has against Cineworld. It will mean Cineworld will have fewer outlets but at least this will help reduce or cancel out their debts. Will be an interesting few months ahead. Fingers crossed.

I don't mean to scare anyone here, but I'm subbed to Simply Wall Street and I've seen two announcements on their site that are not making any sense and have not been announced by the Group. The two announcements are:

1. Wed, 28th Sep 2022 - Cineplex Reportedly Makes Approach for Cineworld's U.S. Franchise

2. Tue, 13th Sep 2022 - Cineworld Group plc (LSE:CINE) dropped from FTSE All-Share Index (GBP)

The second announcement is the most worrying and I don't understand why such a big motion as this has not been announced by the group. Maybe someone on here can shed a bit more light.

I used to love trading this stock, you could buy on the dip knowing full well that it would go back up. Can't believe it's dropping like a stone like this. Who would have thought? Looks like a stock now that only the shorters would get involved with. I hope it recovers for the sake of the retail investors who must be having kittens right now.

@larryh I'm in another Hydrogen stock AFC, they're already producing them. It will be interesting to see who takes off first. I'm invested in both as they are both innovative and have ground-breaking products. I'm glad to see PPS are making big strides forward. Hopefully, next year will be their year.

@dinsalas32 I think that will have affected it. I want to jump into this share but the market is spooked atm and even stocks like this that should be doing well, are not. The war and inflation are having a detrimental effect on stocks. It's very hard to determine when a stock has bottomed out, this could be the bottom or it might not. My guess is this going to tumble some more, like a lot of other stocks will. We are in the middle of a bear market, Better to put your money in an ISA right now, the returns are better than what you'd get if you put it into stocks, not all stocks but most. I'll continue to wait patiently, and GL to those already invested.

@Wolster69 I'll do a little more research on them, but if that's the case the contract is very lucrative. The SP is currently low twenties which seems a bit undervalued for this stock. Simply Wall St currently values it at 44. With gas production now in place surely this will affect the SP positively when numbers start coming in. The thing holding back stocks at the moment is inflation and the Ukrainian War. Once these situations correct themselves this should start to have a positive effect on the Share. Maybe not now but I can see six months down the line people will have wished they'd bought in at these prices. I'll keep my eye on this for a little longer and do a bit more research before jumping in.

Even if the war ends and they switch the pipelines back on, the govt has already stated that they will be decreasing their reliance on Russian gas, and will be increasing gas storage using gas supplied from within the UK. Which is why I've added this stock to my watchlist. I wanted to get into this stock this week but the way stocks are down across the board I think this will sink a bit more, so I'll wait.

The company has just started producing Gas for the first time in their history, and they've also won a big contract with BP Gas Marketing Limited. I'm just a little dubious about the company. They seem to have a lot of debt and the contract they won is not with BP the Oil giants but some other company seemingly masquerading as the original. Maybe they are a subsidiary of BP Oil I don't know. Maybe someone with a better knowledge of this stock can enlighten.

You have to wonder how a company with such a high turnover of cash and profits be $5B in debt? Americans have always been overly flamboyant and very materialistic. They like to spend what they don't have, and this is just another example. Very poor management and overspending is what has caused this company's downfall. The BOD should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Covid or not they were closed for less than a year and should have had enough money put away for the rainy days. Outrageous how these companies are allowed to get away with this kind of behaviour. They should be locked up the lot of them, bunch of thieves.

As I said previously I think the market has overreacted. A lot of investors and the market think Cineworld is going bankrupt. Once they realise that it's not a bankruptcy but more a refinancing and deleveraging exercise, the SP should start to tick back up. Simply Wall street believes that CINE are trading well below its fair price value which they value at £4.

All depends on News. Latest from Ukrain is that Russian troops are ordered to retreat after shock Uranian advance. Then there will be the latest on energy and inflation. So many different news and factors can affect the SP. The Ukranian advance could give the market a positive feeling and it could go up, or it might do the opposite, who knows. But as long as we keep the getting the large trade volumes like we've been getting this week, anything can happen, it could even start spiking. This week is a defining week for the company.
