Looks like they turned the Spyros around quickly,..it's now left and MSC KIM has just arrived, capacity 4,250 TEU.

Wk Fri 26th July to Thurs 1st Aug - 7 different ships serviced compared with 6 the week before. So they are currently turning them around in about 2 or 3 days per ship... and with the two berths,.. that is averaging at 1 ship a day.
Container ships can vary greatly in capacity, with the New Panamax super containers carrying 10,000+,.. but in general they appear to be more in the 3000-5000 TEU's. So, using the lowest end of the scale,... if we are now averaging 1 vessel/day..... 365days a year .... at 3000 containers/vessel... that is circa 1.1m containers/annum.

..how are you doing? You've been a bit quiet and were a bit down in the dumps the last time you posted. Hope all is well and you took my advice to visit the local! .. as in Public House rather than GP!

Given up counting the days,... I think the scope of the works has changed ( that old chestnut..!).. so am reasonably relaxed. I'm more interested in how quickly they are turning the ships around and whether that is ramping up..... my reasoning being,... if things aren't going well,... nothing much will be happening,.... if more ships are being 'serviced'... then things must be doing ok,..? Bit simplistic I know,... but in the absence of news,.. there isn't too much else that we can look at.

... news this week would be a relief to a lot of us,.... but I'm not expecting it,.. at least not the Tema news. If PF had been confident of that then I don't think they would have been forced in to the Placing. It will be what it will be. I now have an end of August timescale before reviewing my position. Failure to sign Tema before then would leave some very serious questions to be asked of the BoD.

Fred... those two things are not incompatible.

There is no reason why a contract could not be amended to take in to consideration additional work? IF w are working at risk... and I am not sure if that is true... then I would have preferred to enter in to a contract based upon the existing tariff structure ( which could be amended) rather than have no contract in place. It's a bit of a no-brainer isn't it?---

6 ships turned around last week,... looking at what is in port and close by I suspect that they will do 8 this week.

As to the pricing and the Tariffs. We have the Port Authority pricing for 2019. MPS have, within the Formal Agreement, the right to periodically, re-negotiate the fees, even increase the fees with inflation,....- so they are not trying to do anything un -toward. Naturally,... there will be a balance between what is commercially acceptable,.. and what would eventually be harmful to their own profits,... they won't want to price the port of of the market. From what I have been reading there are only a handful of ports in this region that are of the size and have the facilities to service the really bid ships,... so in theory,... we have a prized asset.

As many of us have posted before,.. the official Tariff document breaks down the port handling and import charges for 20ft, 40ft,... empty/full containers etc., -- so we know what figures are currently being charged. Any re-negotiation may lead to amend these.

I have e-mailed and received a response in relation to the issue you raised. I received the following via Tom Cooper at Walbrook.

"We are not in a position to discuss the contractual arrangements between Westminster and the client – these are commercially sensitive. Once the contract is finalised it will be announced, as far as we are able."

..that after yesterdays disappointment we should, at least , . ( assuming the TEMA Contract is signed off in the next few weeks,..)...... take some comfort that we should be done with any future placings, once and for all,... unless they are too facilitate specific contracts.

Aiming,... the various other fees are identified separately....its in the link. We don't know what proportion of that we would get,... other than the anecdotal "lion's share' comment made by PF at the AGM..... nor do we know if these Tariffs apply directly to the new part of the Port. I imagine they would as there doesn't appear to be any other Tariff info out there that I can find.

The £10/container charge is in line with the number bandied about at the AGM when we discussed another port etc.,
