The story with the Druzhba pipeline is a great win for Central Europe, especially with the flows starting back up yesterday , but the idea that Ryanair is 'defeated' because of an 'old fleet' is just forum fiction. They’ve been aggressively rolling out those new 737-8200 'Gamechangers.' While the Wizz A321neo still has an efficiency lead, closer to 15% than that 30% figure it’s not exactly a museum piece vs a spaceship.
The real tension this summer isn't just the pipeline lts the hedging game. Even with the Slovnaft refinery back in action, Wizz is only about 55% hedged for 2026. Ryanair, for all their faults and stupid O’leary locked in 80% of their fuel at much lower prices. So while Wizz might have the better logistics right now, they’re paying market rates for nearly half their fuel, while the 'Ryair ' is largely protected from the current price spikes. So even if they are paying more at the pump in London, they locked in their prices months ago while Wizz is still buying a huge chunk of their fuel at today's market rates.
I’m all for Wizz taking the lead, but let's base the victory on the real financial and technical data of 2026, not just a one-sided narrative that ignores the actual numbers. I’d rather have a clear picture than a distorted one. We shouldn't be fools falling for the same kind of misinformation O'Leary himself throws around
