I’ve talked about Iclaprim from when it originated over 20 years back through the 4 / 5 companies that have sold it off . It’s full history. Your article is a year old. Since then they lost the rights to Iclaprim. So let’s keep things recent if you like. Today Motif is a shell with a bit cash and nothing else.

A NDA was filed with the FDA based on these trials and was rejected due to failure to show non-inferiority and due to safety concerns, especially drug-induced QT prolongation. The FDA advisory committee said that the drug "should not be developed further" based on the results presented.

Why do people keep mentioning Iclaprim. They don’t own it. Why after last years 3rd time at stage 3 for Iclaprim failing at the final hurdle didn’t they pursue it further???? Why didn’t Motif try and raise more money ???? Because nobody wanted to fund it any further They had taken it as far as they could - just as 4 other drug companies had and failed in the last 20 years it’s been around. In Motifs own words. “ it will take tens of millions and many years to continue with Iclaprim “. Has somebody like those mentioned decided to try it again??? Maybe....anything could happen but those trying to ramp this need to be ashamed of themselves. In all probability a RTO will happen. That doesn’t mean a huge multi bag in most cases.

Basically. If they could have repaid their debts £7m +’to Hercules and also get the .....at a guess. £30m to get it back to the final hurdle ( as well as several years ) they might have a chance to try stage 3 trials for the 4th time.

This was part of the deal along with signing over Iclaprim. They are basically giving the only thing they own to Hercules. ie. ICLAPRIM rights along with the warrants for 1/4 of the company for next to nothing if anything ever comes of a RTO. There is very little information to be found on the RNS’s. Motif had nothing left except £12m debts. And a large debt to Hercules. Motif made the statement that they can’t take this further at last rejection at stage 3. They said it would take tens of millions and many years to get back to that stage again. Nobody was rushing forward to give them the cash to do this.

Hercules didn’t want Iclaprim. But that’s all that Motif had as an asset.

Well they have been trying to sell it for a while, Iclaprim hasn’t had a very good history. 20 years and still no sign of it reaching the market. A couple of big companies had sold it on. But who would buy it and spend millions on the hope of it succeeding???

Remember there are two Motifs. ( motif Inc. ) One is selling the assets to recoup the losses. This one is a shell.
