Gilead are that huge. When word got out their shares “soared” over 10% in a day. Their statement said - that even if it was to succeed with Remdesivir it wouldn’t be big enough to warrant such a rise. Lol.

Gilead applied for orphan status for Remdesivir - mainly to do with quicker submissions and not having to have a paediatric trial. Which is a nightmare.

Mark. The pain market is huge and there are many companies developing new drugs that are quicker acting, fewer side effects
etc. . They know if they come out with something that is safe and works well. The worldwide market is huge and very profitable. But these weird and wonderful tropical diseases that are so rare there are only a handful of cases each year, it would be wonderful to have a decent treatment but if you were to only sell a few hundred packs each year why would you bother to research and invest in them. There is also an area called neglected disease. These are quite often prevalent in poorer countries. Why develop drugs for a Country which has no money to buy the drugs - even if there are hundreds of thousands of people requiring treatment. Sad but that’s the way it is

Mark. The orphan status is applied to a drug with a relatively small market. A market which is so small the companies aren’t attracted to developing a product because they usually wouldn’t be able to make a profit. To encourage companies they give them this status which gives very generous tax breaks and incentives for the companies.

The reason is the crazy spread. Off book they are quoting 1.8p buy. .7 sell.

Anything could be in the mix right now. They did make a point of mentioning companies working on Covid ??? Have they got another angle for Iclaprim, post covid treatment ??? If there are any TR1 then you should find out Monday.

I personally would be amazed to see it worth enough to pay off what it owes. After completing 2 stage 3 trials it was sold for just under £2m. It has since completed another stage 3 trial without success, so not sure if that means it’s worth less than the last sale because of the fact it’s failed again or maybe a bit more with the extra research put into it. Either way I don’t see many that would be prepared to pay more than a few million on the understanding they need to invest tens of millions and another couple of years.

Mark. How much do you think Iclaprim is worth. At a guess. From previous sales and it’s current state.

Comical to read what people believe the MM’s are doing with the share price. Then the well known rampers that buy and ramp like crazy while at the same time they are selling.

The register shows on 12th June around that figure. There is ‘currently’ no holders above 3%. From the Motif Bio site it states

As of June 12, 2020, the Company has 654,991,023 Ordinary Shares on issue. In general, there are no restrictions on the transfer or sale of the Company’s shares. There are no shares held in treasury. Less than 1% of the shares are not in public hands.

That’s because of holdings nominee/ beneficiary. But if you’re wanting to know number of shares not held by II etc. It’s around 550m
