RE: Boris Johnson list of achievements24 Jul 2022 22:43
Paranoia is in the air. Boris Johnson said goodbye to the Commons with a warning that Labour was conspiring with the “deep state” to get Britain back in the EU. Which made him sound like an angry keyboard warrior, rather than the man in charge of the country for the past three years. Conspiracy theories reached fever pitch in the Tory leadership contest, as Brexiteers’ favourite Remainer Liz Truss emerged as frontrunner along with Rishi Sunak. Dominic Cummings shared his conspiracy theory that Johnson backed Truss because he thinks she’ll “blow” up and he’ll be able to make a comeback. The Leave campaign mastermind also mocked hardline Brexiteers for backing the “truly useless” Truss because she was “reassuringly mad behind the eyes.” Sunak, meanwhile, has been doing his best to sound mad, bad and dangerous to know on Brexit. The former chancellor scoffed at Truss’s Remainer status at a bitter TV debate, and promised to identify a mountain of EU rules to rip up within his first 100 days at No 10.
