We don't use coal powered stations anymore....(although some are on standby - just incase)

But use huge amounts of V EXPENSIVE gas or imported LNG.

DRAX our largest coal powered station (7% of total electricity) now uses wood clips mostly imported from Canada.

Hurricane Lee became a "dangerous" category 5 hurricane as it approached the Caribbean on Friday, the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

According to the NHC, Lee is expected to move north of the Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico over the weekend, when it reaches its peak, and likely cause "dangerous surf and life-threatening rip currents," initially in the northern Leeward Islands, and then in Puerto Rico, as well as the Turks and Caicos, HIspaniola, the Bahamas and Bermuda.

The NHC noted it is still unclear if Hurricane Lee will have any significant impact along the US East Coast but noted "dangerous surf and rip currents" are expected. Still, the storm is set to "slow down considerably" over the southwestern Atlantic.
