Spights we know there has been manipulation of oil markets in the past.

The best examples are the stories supposedly from OPEC in the WSJ.

Which moved markets only to be denied by OPEC.

I did hold both.

Av did best for me and I cashed them out as needed the money for something.

I still hold Lgen,and have increased my holding over the last few weeks .

With Av currently I have not repurchased as the bet then is that the sp will continue upwards repeating the rises .

The graph seems to be showing a top ( not a Chartist) and I am concerned I would be buying at the top.

It’s a well run company and have started to watch It again,but too pricey for me just now( especially the way the world is currently).

So LGEN was my choice.

Better div also ( but that’s just because Av sp rose more than Lgen).

Oil markets have seemed orderly for years.

They might not have been predictable all the time.

But very often with hindsight you could kind of see that A happened because of B .

Perhaps a lot of that was because OPEC were keeping things orderly.

Now since currently OPEC oil is only flowing in limited amounts maybe that is making market forces easier to manipulate.

This manipulation can be easier due to less oil flowing so same amount of cash in market having more affect.

Manipulation may be by legal means( buying up all the products from one source) particularly if that source is smaller than normal.

Or as suspected manipulation may be by knowing things in advance and insider trading.

I suspect it’s a bit of both, but also a very blinkered view of oil markets and what is actually happening.

If there is not enough oil and oil products to go around prices usually keep rising till the poorer countries are priced out.

Try telling that to yourself on the 8 th Jan BP then only £4.15

Separately the cruise ships which passed through the straits last night are now being reported on mainstream news.Suspect there was a news embargo until they were safely through.

They could not have gotten through without permission from Iran.

You cannot hide them they are unmissable.

It’s starting to resemble a good old Farce with nothing being what it seems.

How many times have I thought that and been wrong.

I personally think the stars are starting to align for BP.

And for a change instead of everything being a negative,almost everything seems to be going their way.

We are no longer just hoping for a takeover to end the pain.

And the cost cutting over the last 18 months means a leaner company keeping more of the cash in the good times.

And we even have leaders we hope will prove outstanding.

There will a lot of chaos before it becomes possible to really know BP’s worth.

But I cannot think of one reason why the future should not be brighter than the last 5 years.

Particularly if Trump now has a tantrum and starts the bombing again.
