The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode with London Stock Exchange Group's Chris Mayo has just been released. Listen here.
Thank you both very much for assistance today. It is a good and satisfying read, shows that patience may win out in the end. I see Robin is trying to read the US mewspapers before they appear ! Do you think they will like to read that a British company is leading the world, and that the National Physical Laboratory is rated so highly ? As many have said in the past, "Enjoy the Ride" Hats Off, Hip Hip Hooray! ----- Yours, Max.
This old man relies on RNS, what do you all read ? ----- Yours, Max.
Not an answer to your query about Gnan, where does it fit in ?
I seem to recall that globally, three World-Class organisations have been set uo.
National Graphene Institute at Manchester University, National Graphene Association in the USA, and The Graphene Flagship in the Netherlands. Since Gnan is based in Spain perhaps it will be recognised there and become not just a member of the Flagship but also be engaged in developing their work there. This would help VRS be seen as a valuable partner in Europe. ----- Yours, Max.
Hear Hear, with you competely on this. !! ----- Yours, Max.
Would FCA ask if you meant, Tripe and Cowheal, Pig's Belly or Thick seam ? My parents loved them all, especially when they returned home from the Pictures First House. Those were the days !! ----- Yours, Max.
I have read and re-read todays RNS and see that an up-dated strategy has been produced and will be presented with the Interim results in April. I have always valued this company highly, but sense that the Board of Directors is about to change, with the Chairman stepping down and retire from the stresses that can occur and re-occur in guiding such a growing company. If Mr Best continues in post he might possibly reduce his input in the design aspect, alowwing some younger poeple to take the strain. I do not wish to be pessimistic but the financial people in the City may feel that something is about to change and therefore have decided to mark down the SP. --- Yours, Max.
Pokerchips and Prof Plum. You both seem genuine in your posts, which I have been following as best I can, but please leave out the personal elements since they detract from the continuing discussion. You both have observed various situations in Spain and elsewhere. May I ask if you would care to take, say, five main effects on an individual country of being a fairly long term member of EURO and, use UK as a benchmark so we poor mortals here can see the diferences you both have commented on. ----- Yours, Max.
Like you, am looking forward to results in April. They should at least satisfy Able's comment about being diversified. I hope they will at least show, and then perhaps ignored, the views expressed here, which I believe thay can do with speed reading. I will just print a very short phrase from my last post, if you don't mind:-
"If the private investors come to believe that the company is not interested in pursuing aims and objectives in line with declared ends, then a diminishing support by members can be expected"
Declared Ends means the ENDS the company strives to achieve, set by them, and publicised to one and all by their Regulatoty News Service. Private Investors will have been guided by the RNS and therefore can expect and demand some explanation as to why the targets have not been obtained, or any explanation as to why. The Nomad and perhaps Financial Adviser should be questioning strongly if any information is missing on 2nd April, 2019. ----- Yours, Max.
My last post - 4th March is now well out of date. Problems keep arising to the detriment of company planning and the uncertainty is appearing to make the country a laughing stock elsewhere. Why not drop the idea of Brexit, continue as an ordinary member, elect M.E.P.s in May, settle down for a couple of years, then take a proper look at the situation, then, and then only, discuss in a proper fashion the way forward for this nation. If immigration into the country is still relatively high, seek negotiations with countries losing a lot of their citizens, and through the EURO Commission seek to help them provide better living conditions. WE could start by suggeting how water may be better treated and conserved INSTEAD of having to be assailed with constant plees to donate £2 PER MONTH to Water Aid. Much better to have a massive continent like Europe to do a professional job for the whole of Africa, where such aid is urgent. It is about time the Europeans made up for some of the bad treatment meted out to the countries from where people were stolen and sold into slavery. ----- Yours, Max.
Massive moves taking place, in UK, China, Spain and now USA ! May I ask, has anyone heared anything about AECOM ? I did think we would hear during February/March but nothing just yet ?? Infrastrcture, such as designing and building complete state roads (State Highways, the term ?) including bridges etc. has been the subject of previous notes I have psted on here. If graphene was shown to be a material improving wear and tear to road surfaces, reduced maintenance costs and down time would be a bonus for the state governments. There are also ideas being discussed about electric currents being incorporated for certain duties. Any further thoughts along these construction requirements, please ? ----- Yours, Max.
Robin suggested that there was a rumouir that TWO Years extension was going the rounds. Would make it a round figure of Five Years procrastination, I believe. Par for the course. ?
David Cameron seems to have learned a lot at Eton ! He certainly fixed the countries medium and long term future in the mire. Any more Conservative party candidates available for number 10 ?
I am pleased that VRS is making provision Stateside for the future, in addition to the work with China and establishing a foothold in Spain. ----- Yours, Max.
Troublesome, do you mean to say that the production at Runcorn, having been approved, will make CFQDs to a Certain Level which might be, for example, 98% pure ? I try to follow the very technical discussions on here, but don't recall the actual material being produced was anything other than 100% pure. Can you illustrate for us what level is acceptable, please. ----- Yuors, Max.
Thank you for your informative post, just one point please. I would not call it an "Intervention" rather a ruling from the Speaker of the House of Commons, an old and venerable position, filled in an old and gallant way. If we look at what he says -- " We cannot keep on asking members the same question which was clearly deteated again and again. Please come back with a different motion so that members can make a better and more considered approach to the problem". ------ Yours, Max.
Reading recent comments by members shows the amount and depth of thought regarding the future welfare and prospects of the company are real and thoroughly understood. A company, via its BoD and Management teams can not afford to ignore views expressed so forthrightly and simple. If the private investors come to believe that the company is not interested in pursuing aims and objectives in line with declared ends, then a diminishing support by members can be expected, which may lead to a wholesale withdrawal of funds which no company shoud risk. MR TT you mention Ronseal, let me mention Northern Rock. ----- Yours, Max.
Thank you all for your notes, you blow fresh air across our bows from different directions. Together, we seem to exhibit the anxiety of many colleagues regarding the usage of funds. Since the BoDs decision to not yet spend the cash, I wondered whether there might have been "Guidance and Requests" circulated by MOD to firms to show restraint and maintain a reasonable cash reserve until setttlement of Brexit ? Possible ? ---- Yours, Max.
So, when a look-alike for Del Boy stands at the edge of the market with his open suitcas or pipelines, the Daft Stallholders along the market area furnish him with goods, or gas ___ ON CREDIT ??? ___Pull the other one.
Is this called deregulation in the business world ? Built to enhance the confidence of traders and customers alike ? Did the Ancient Brits trade this way ? ----- Yours, Max.
Brexit may be delayed beyond March. Our results will be on 2nd April. Will it be good news before bad or continuation of this perpetually miserable Parliament ? Has Rees Mogg, and his cash, fled with or without Arch Enemy Johnson ? I hope our results provide some relief, and yes, even satisfaction for our shareholders and striving workforce. The new companies in our group, allied to our continuing engineering production teams deserve our forthright encouragement in these trying, exasperating times. NOT forgetting the members of the armed forces we continue to serve. ----- Yours, Max. 14th March 2019 @ 10.30 pm.
What makes you think that CNA shareholders, I assume you mean them, are subsidising new energy suppliers who sell energy at below cost price ? If you are convinced of this, then why not call on the regulator to justify this process ? Your local MP, and perhaps your regional MEPs, might well support any evidence you may possess. ----- Yours, Max.
The recent purchase obviously increases the assets held in the USA. If the company manages the business in a good way like they seem to do in the Eastern States, then the company, its stakeholders and the customers in the MNState Area will all benefit. I sought to find out the distance from Boston, MA to Minneiopolis,MN and its about 1,400 miles. Long distance management ?? May I ask, Mr Grayling, why you want to see the company remote from this country ? Perhaps the money used was all generated in the USA, but where did the original cash come from to expand into the USA jn the beginning ? ----- Yours, Max.
AECOM may well supply information to VRS regarding their testing series as reported previously.
I came across this comment by William Hench, Manager of a fund that invests in US Small Cap firms.
"The US desperately needs new infrastructure, from new roads and bridges to drainage systems. “There’s been a lack of new spending and, also, a lack of maintenance.” Some reports say as much as 20% of fresh water in the US leaks out before it even gets to its destination, he says.
While some states, like California and Texas, have upped spending on infrastructure already, there’s been little big programmes coming from the Federal Government. That’s something Trump will want to change – and it’s an area he’s likely to find support for from Democrats."
------ Yours, Max.
