Down nearly £30k odd in profit since Monday!

Do I care? Not one bit!

Why? Because we all know where this is going in the long term (and having been invested here since 2014 I've seen the current 'post good news scenario' so many times now it's getting boring!)

Just feel for the ''newbies'' who are getting spooked, as they have no idea what they are giving up!

The only thing needed now is patience!!!

My first 250,000 I bought back in July 2014 at 0.0042p (Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it!?)

Lost a shed load of my portfolio's value (on paper) after Newmont walked, but couldn't afford to lock in such a massive loss (in addition to all of my other stocks being also red, and still are!) so took the decision that it was '**** or bust' time.

Averaged down with borrowed money (stupid I know but so glad I did now!) and the most I've ever paid over last 6 years is 1.98p (in the run up to the expectation that Newmont 'buying us out' was 'all but nailed on'?! LOL).

Current holding 2m at an average of 1.1p, and haven't sold a single share! (Just wishing I had the funds to buy more on the dips but I don't as the 'kitchen sink' is in here at the moment!)

Totally relaxed that this will come good (very good) at some point though (maybe sooner than we all think) and am prepared to wait for it to happen and for as long as it takes so long as we get fair value for what we have!

Hoping for 60p like a few others here, as that would see me set up for life!

Already recovered all of my losses (and some!) across 7 'total dog' holdings (of which this is only one!)

Currently sitting on a 700% profit atm in GGP with much more 'in the tank' to come! (AIMO obviously! ;-) )

With what they had offered her as a pension (around £14k a year from memory as she'd retired early she'd have had to live until 85 just to get her money back (her mum died of MS in her 60s).

Whatsmore, the money she has drawn over the first year in income had already been replaced by the fund's performance (or had been before the Covid 19 issue that is) so the value of her fund had remained virtually unchanged so she's perfectly comfortable with that.

Anyway back to GGP!

24 years as cabin crew (Purser) retired early last year at 55

Loads of Crew and pilots have been transferring their BA pensions elsewhere as they don't trust BA with their money!!

(They have had a nasty little habit of using their pension fund to 'loan' the airline money in the past to help prop it up! Their CFO is (or was) also a trustee of the pension scheme which is convenient in facilitating this!)

What'smore her health isn't great (family history of MS and undergoing test at the moment) and she didn't want such a large pot being 'lost' should anything untoward happen to her!!

I'll second that JS as we looked at transferring my wife's entire BA Pension (some £420K) to them a couple of years ago and were shocked at the fees they were charging (over £33K in the first year alone FFS!)

In the end she transferred to a plan with AVIVA.

Personally there's no way I'll be voting yes to any 'offer' involving NC shares, as it will be a total pain in the arse to sort out (as well as costly).

Hopefully it won't be an issue though?

The answer to your question corradus is very much of interest to me also, as my entire 2m holding is currently held in an HL Stocks & Shares ISA.

Personally I certainly wouldn't want to be forced to take any NC shares as part of any deal that couldn't remain protected against tax within that wrapper for obvious reasons, or forced to cash out outside of the same.

My wife is exactly the same! She won't believe it (nor get excited) until she sees the 'cash in the bank'! (Or the ISA in my case! ;-)

If my memory serves me correctly wasn't there a poster on this board a few years back now who went to work one day well in profit only to return home to find that he had been ''relieved'' of his entire holding as the result of a VERY short lived MM manufactured drop!? :-(

IMO personally opinion they are for mugs, have never set one and never will!

If you are with HL they have a downloadable fact sheet that should help explain everything.

Nice position to be in though, as personally I've seen my pension fund drop nearly 14% in a month (my GGP holding is currently worth more!!!)
