I don't have any kids of my own, so if it all goes to plan my only nephew and his future family (as he's only 16) will be set for life (hopefully!?) and will no doubt tell tales of their ''Mad Uncle Matt'' who invested in a Gold Explorer!

I will certainly however (once we have finally arrived at our ''destination'') be ''raising a glass'' to my dear late maternal Grandfather as without the modest inheritance he left me none of it would have been possible.

Same here, but I just couldn't bring myself to lock in the loss (especially as the money was left to me by my dear departed Grandfather).

Spent quite a while getting really depressed too thinking that I had let him down by 'spunking away' most of the money that he had saved himself to be able to pass onto me. Eventually I decided it had to be a '**** or bust' play going forward.

How times have now changed! Sitting on more money than I have ever seen in my life but in it now for the long haul as hoping for the end game to prove to be life changing for my extended family as well as myself (my brother and teenage nephew).

Only lost £100k myself since Monday (only!! LOL!) but exciting times ahead IMO!

Just goes to show what they say about timing.

Been in myself since 2014, overall total investment in GGP is £22,016, and still yet to achieve half that! (But am confident I will, and then some, over time!)

If I had sold on that fateful Monday after Newmont walked, I'd be sitting on a large loss instead of a £427,983.31 profit at today's sp at time of writing.

On a completely different note though, and just a thought, what if Sandeep Biswas was to accept the top job at Rio (as it has been rumoured he may be 'in the frame' for)?

Bearing in mind his full knowledge of the workings of Newcrest and exactly what is going on with Havieron, not to mention Rio's (extremely) deep pockets (and Deutsche Banks' previous advice to Rio to diversify from just Copper) would it not be possible that Rio under his stewardship may just choose to buy out Newcrest (and GGP?) entirely at some point in the future?

Were that to become a reality, would the likes of Barrick (or any other mining major) just sit by and let them?

Spent the afternoon at the local Porsche dealership (Burgess Hill) looking at a rather nice 911 GTS cabriolet, but like my brother said to me whilst we were there, ''if you buy it now that £92k car could cost you £296,185 in lost profit when the shares you'd have to sell to get it hit a £1''!

I opened an ISA for my father on the 26th August and bought him 140,090 shares.

As of just now he's already up 55.95% (£11,056.96 in profit!)

(Just hit my 19th Bag too!)

I do so love this share!!!

If we get bought out for a pound plus a share then personally I will be over the moon (as it would remove the need to decide when to sell).

However my preferred route would be to eventually (within the next few years?) hopefully receive an annual dividend of say around 4 or 5p per annum, as with 2m shares held in an ISA such an amount annually would see me able to ensure that my whole family is financially secure and my brother can give up his stressful corporate life to enjoy himself a bit more (as did I four and a half years ago now to care for our dad, and have never looked back!).

Waiting for Monday with baited breath, as the next fortnight's gonna be a doozey!
