Not necessarily Scotty - If you buy from the shareholders you have to pay a premium for control and assume all the debt. If you wait for insolvency, all you have to pay is the value of the assets, and potentially at a discount due to a forced seller. The administrator will generally just be concerned covering the debt holders, with the shareholders somewhat secondary.

Others here who know the 'wholesale value' of satellite capacity might have a view on what the assets are actually worth in a firesale, but my strong suspicion is that there would be nothing left over for the shareholders after the bondholders have been paid back, even after the D4E.

Wot SS said. Of course we have to remember that the bond holders are also the biggest shareholders so they do have a vested interest in the Company being successful, but ultimately, they have the fall back position of the asset value.

I think he held the stock in the past and hence has a view. Same with me - I was a LT holder back in the day, but bailed when the debt servicing cash flow balance began to deteriorate. Since then I've traded in and out a few times, recently having bought a few below 5p, but I'll be out if it hits 7.5p. Can I also suggest that posters' view that non-holders have no place on a board like this is wrong, and actually self-defeating. It's always possible to be wrong on a stock, and the way we avoid losing money is to continually challenge our own investment thesis. If you only have holders posting, you will be definition only get positive views (because that's why they hold it). So, holders should welcome negative views (from non-holders) so that they can use these to test their own beliefs, and if the thesis still holds, then fine. The truth is that most posters here hate negative views because they fear that these people might actually be right, and they are so far underwater, they feel it's too late to change. It's a very interesting study in self-defeating (and very human) behavior!!

Dan - you might want to look again. All his posts on AVN are negative, but he's also posted on a handful of other stocks, most being positive. You might also consider the fact that he's actually been correct regarding this stock so far.....

Why limit yourself. I hold both. I've been in Barclays for about 3 years now, and began building a position in Lloyds last year around current prices, and I think it's an absolute steal. Company built around a low-risk retail bank, which will enjoy rising interest margins as rates rise, whilst it will be one of the largest beneficiaries of PPI roll down. I see it as a nice slow burner recovery like Tesco has been for the past year. IGG is now approaching fair value IMV,and I will be looking to begin reducing my position above �9 (which is exactly what I did last time it got there - hurrah!). It's been a lovely ride though!

We now have a relatively lowly geared company on a relatively low valuation, plenty of recovery potential, and a seemingly thoughtful and well incentivized management. In addition, the outsourcing market continues to grow, with fewer and fewer credible candidates. Still loads of implementation risk of course, but feels like a good long-term investment to me. Time will tell of course!

Agree with that, but you’ve left out the fact that despite these positives, the stock trades on a very modest multiple of earnings. Definitely a long term hold for me.

IKVL - if you'd been around longer you would know that initially, SS posted a negative view supported by evidence and critical thinking. Sadly, though unsurprisingly, he immediately got waves of abuse from the large cohort of numpties which post on this Board, and (somewhat understandably) decided to just start winding them up/dropping to their level instead. Like I say, pays to have a few facts before firing salvos. As an additional question, are you actually familiar with the expression 'all over when the fat lady sings'?

...a bit of when they had the stock system problem in 2011/12, and the stock price fell back below �3. I continued to buy down from �7, placing my last order at �2.99. It felt horrible, but I was still confident that I was getting a bargain, and so it turned out. I reduced in the intervening years, my last sale at just over �19 in October last year leaving me a small holding. The fall we've seen reminds me of 2012 (ie huge over-reaction), and hence I've adopted the same strategy as last time. Of course not two times are the same, but at least this time, there's genuine valuation and dividend support, and hence I feel very comfortable having once again built a large position at this level! Time will tell - GLA!
