Disappointing...but Blackrock solid...and at least 3% looks like its stock held by Brokers for their private clients like me...

I hold DGR...they own 11.06% of SOLG...

Its like saying NCM could be a target because they own 13.7%...

I don't think they are remotely a takeover target, as they hold

13.32% of Aus Tin
15.65% of Dark Horse
19.05% of Armour Energy and 21.8% of Iron Ridge

Would the unbundling be worth the hassle?

Surely its less hassle to make a straight bid for SOLG...if its high enough for NM to accept, DGR will accept as well, sure as night follows day, because he would be accepting on behalf of all his diverse holdings of SOLG...

Markets hate uncertainty and the three weeks in 2000 was a nightmare for investors...

As you imply, if you're not over leveraged you should be OK. I had a T20 position open and I had to humbly borrow £6,000 from my wife to bridge it...it all turned out ok and I repaid her immediately, but...

If I said we both have a significant chunk of VILX (and of course all the gold/silver investments) to hedge any risks, that sums up my fears of a temporary but bloody hiatus...

I agree FTJNY but I believe based on what NM has publicly stated that the delay is consequential on COVID delays, especially due to the massive input from independent experts...

Its irritating and there's no point speculating where we might have been if NM had hit 30 September or especially if the drills had been turning from March...

Let's hope we're not...

But the thing that worries me most about this share is what's happening on November 3.

If you look at the historic volatility on Wall Street immediately after Trump won, we should fear the possibilities this time.

One commentator after another is referring to the possibility of extreme volatility up to and after the Election...

A growing number of market participants are accepting and rationalising the likelihood of a Biden win as good for markets. The daily preoccupation is with a Stimulus Package that will not come before 3 November.

We cannot predict whether there will be a violent US market reaction that ripples across the globe (old adage 'when the US sneezes the world catches a cold...')

In which case, neither SOLG nor would be predators may be immune from the fallout.

So, greg, whatever my longer term view, I will definitely be selling some stock before 3 November, even if its for short term strategic defence reasons...

If you mean exit price (and I exempted myself from the pointless debates about what we're worth), its actually a very difficult question to answer...

Weeks ago I posted that an opening bid of 50p would be derisory and would probably precipitate an auction with the final price being between 100/125.

That all goes out of the window now. The iceberg article opens up some literally mind-blowing possibilities.

I have seriously talked to my wife about the possibility of making a £1 million profit from this, however...

It will actually depend on the circumstances around the time of each price spike.

When the SP rose to 43p, I sold the shares ~I had invested for my kids and paid them the money because the target was double bubble. Tick.

The excess I sold for me and H I have substantially bought back because ~I can't quite believe that the market hasn't recognised the Porvenir potential here yet.

So...if the price went to 50p or so in the next couple of weeks and stalled as it did around 43p I would have to take some off the table and run the rest indefinitely.

I still believe SOLG will get taken over. I don't have a price target but 125p would be very tempting.

I've been retired for 11 years. This is my day job. When we exit SOLG, the bulk will go into formerly high yielding FTSE stocks to create a tax free income forever, but God knows how we'll spend the rest if COVID is around for the next few years.

Money is lovely but health matters above all.

I haven't been much help. However...

I got my average in ATYM down to 80p and still believe it will be a £10 share one day.

If SOLG survives as an independent it will surely be a FTSE100 company with an SP well into double figures...

But its never wrong to take some money off the table at the right price and use it to enjoy and improve your quality off life.

Just got around to reading this...had me salivating before I finished it...

The trouble is that when you've got far more than you've ever invested in one stock, how do you persuade yourself to invest even more...but I'm glad I bought back what is now 150,000 at sub 38...

This last comment does it for me...I can moan about the occasional poster, but iceberg is legend...

Quady I knew exactly what I was talking about and, as before, posted a factual statement for the benefit of those who might have read the irrelevant article as Gospel. I note that you have once again prevaricated below, so here is what you said:

Assuming we are all going to make a serious wad here, I would genuinely welcome any researched ideas for reinvestment.

I came to ATYM from a tip by a close friend and that was incredibly profitable. SOLG I discovered simply through a reference from a quality poster on ADVFN. In all cases I do a great deal of research and read hundreds of opinions before making a move.

As you may know, my overriding strategy is gold/silver/copper. I currently have a big commitment to GPM through GPSS, where I will have to stump up a substantial amount for the call at the end of November. 2/3 is set aside. The rest will come from SOLG.

Previous tips and research put me into ARCM and JAY which have been very successful. I have dabbled with ARS and sadly missed out on GGP. Ho hum.

My current fave is VAST and I've more than doubled my holding this morning at sub 0.17.

So genuinely, please post any serious suggestions. I'm not interested in 'punts', multibaggers, etc.

Meanwhile you may have noticed that I never comment on the specifics of drilling news...I accept it and absorb the input of some seriously clever people here and on ADVFN who clearly know what they are talking about...

I hope and believe that I know what I don't know...

But any long solid holder here has to be frankly gobsmacked by the potential we are seeing unfold here...my previous rule was to sell half a holding when it doubled, but I only sold a quarter at 42.7 and have since bought back a big chunk of those, simply on the strength of what is unfolding...

I care about SOLG to the tune of over 1 million shares...my posts should leave nobody in any doubt, but I am honest enough to admit that there is a price at which I would sell and, given timescales, if that came in the form of an acceptable bid I would sell and move on. I've made more than enough money this year not to worry after that...

Now for anyone who might think I attack other posters, please understand thew following.

I apologise for immodestly posting my qualifications and/or experience from time to time but when I post about factual things, I know what I'm talking about.

What I cannot let lie is when inaccuracies or falsehoods are posted in the guise if 'facts'. I will always seek to correct those in the interests if the many honest and fair posters here who sometimes seek guidance and expect it to be correct or objective.

And that is the other thing. I am allergic to 'opinion' which comes across as gospel.

Everybody has a right to an opinion, you may notice that I always follow it with "AIMHO as usual"

But when you are regarded as authoritative on here, the stuff you post may sometimes be taken as fact by posters. That can be dangerously misleading.

So you will sometimes see me posting the actual facts or asking the poster to substantiate their opinion.

The response to sporty the other day was unwise. It may have been an opinion but it came across as authoritative.

The guy was looking for objective views to guide his position on gold and SOLG.

In closing, this is not a rant. I read almost all posts on here (although a couple are filtered). I respect almost everyone. We all have a common interest.
