With all the uncertainty facing the global economy, right now I would rather be in cash, having banked humungous profits...

Yes but if inflation flies, costs and wages will fly and there is no guarantee that the copper/gold price will fly...

My point is however much more to do with future pounds being worth far less than now sounds...

In other words I would rather have the money now and invest it in something else that will fly to compensate me for the loss in monetary value...

There's a market crash and a depression coming and I want my money in gold/silver mining shares and government securities...but NOT waiting for the golden goose to lay its eggs...

Plenty of you guys on here understand NPV...and also that the future is uncertain...A PFS is a set of predictions based on a set of assumptions and the assimilation of an array of risks...

So I say with confidence...MOST people on here would take £1.50 tomorrow rather than wait 10 for the same return...

And here's the thing...we are about to enter a period where the FED and other central banks may well cap interest rates, smooth the yield curve and let inflation fly, to wipe away the massive accumulated debts...

So Quady...would you take the kings penny now, or wait patiently and eagerly for the NPV to be wiped out by inflation...

Meanwhile, most of us will be chuckling all the way to the bank and reinvesting in 'the next big thing'

I can't disagree with the sense of everything you say there.
My only observation would be, why pick off individual deposits when they would almost certainly have to pay more pro rata than gobbling the lot, but also because it could increase the SOLG SP, upping the ante for BHP's first bid..

Having said all that my favourite is still Barrick...they have the muscle, Henry has publicly stated they are looking at copper/gold as well as gold in future...they could outgun everyone, with any premium a small price paid to get a strategic foothold in Ecuador and own the riches that not even SOLG have discovered yet in their vast portfolio...

Here's a perspective...even at this price SOLG is up 55% in 2.1/2 months, with precious little news and despite a Cashbox issue...

Now who wouldn't take the smaller losses or bigger profits in any other share...?

yes its frustrating, but although I'm trading at the margin, I'm not touching my core holding because there is only good news to come...

Pat...I have a long term view on SOLG but I take a daily view on gold and silver...

As I've said many times, there is a correlation between the gold price and SOLG SP... Now can you tell me what is wrong with trading at the margin and taking a £4k profit, ending up with the same number of shares...

And is there something wrong with the Charters on here saying the SP is going lower while holding long term...

The most significant thing for me is the performance of SIL, while FRES has gone down...significantly...

So if SIL is a strong buy as well as SILJ, why wouldn't you buy FRES and UFO for that matter...

Meanwhile, EQX looks ludicrously undervalued too...
