Maybe the gold results are pointing in the direction of an inevitable buyout of the Anza project so Brad is gearing up OMI to have a further project. We are in a cash rich position already able to pick low hanging fruit.

The Newmont and Agnico JV deal is on Anza not on OMI as a company

Newmont does hold circa 18% of omi as a major holder separately.

Brad was referring to the position they were in previously before they had a strong balance sheet which is what they have now.

They won’t own OMI at any stage. They will own 75% of Anza during the last 2 years of the operational plan. Until then OMI holds 49% and Newmont Agnico share the remainder meaning OMI maintains the majority holder position.

Ultimately these results were what the market was waiting for, for confirmation of Anza being a go or no

Well remember ggp awaiting Newcrest a first results and how the market reacted and kept reacting. That’s where we’re at now with OMI.

No Brad says that was the reason they have a strong balance sheet now before the strong results started coming through. The strong balance sheet came end of last year this is the position they are in.

Only 188m shares in omi also unlike say ggp with 3.5bn so for omi to reach their mcap you are looking at many more bags from this level to attain those levels due to the low issue. Great.

Continental accepted an offer from Zijin Mining Group Co. Chinese gold producer but Newmont held 20% and had first refusal and allowed the sale to go through.

Regardless Newmont is the worlds No1 and can pick and choose what they want. Although they let Buritica go they held on and stayed committed to Anza.

I think the Buritica area was more politically unstable back then but look at the size of the resource now it’s a monster and only 50% explored. Geologists believe what they have there so far continues to mirror itself directly below where they have operations planned for the next X number of years.

Anza is on the same fault line., geologically analogous says Brad. Basically a mirror image if you like. The fact that the resource is very young means the gold is in high concentrations and not dispersed over a massive area which over time lowers the grams per ton which is what you find in say Australia.

This means you can very quickly accumulate large resource numbers over relatively short distances.
