RE: HSBC holdings at 80p?21 May 2020 13:07
agreed
as of today, we still have 35m shares in issue, on 28th May this will incease to roughly 45m shares when the placing shares are officially given to those who subscribed for them
BGF for example had 12% or so, they have sold 5% so down to 7% as of today, then on 28th they will jump back to roughly 12% because they will be allocated their placing shares
it is interesting who the underlying holdings via HSBC are, and has been mentioned by some it could be part of a fund, remember if you buy into a HSBC unit trust, you are effectively buying the fund wrapper, HSBC manage the fund and make purchases to grow the fund - so it could well be what has happened here
our placing seemed to have been done so fast, HSBC might not have been able to get in on the placing, or the other theory could be they took part in the placing, but also wanted more stock, hence the purchase from BGF this week
