if an institution wants to sell a big amount, i expect they go to broker and say ive got 1m to sell, then for example someone like peel will step in and take control of selling that 1m as best as they can for the top price, and peel will take their cut, and maybe the broker if there is the middle man
but obviously peel being the market maker they will be able to squeeze out top value, not like us private investors hitting sell when we think it is best
so then next question to ask is why is an institution selling, is the company in trouble, well GDR have just announced CE mark and sales coming soon, so probably not because of company trouble
so, is the institution selling for another reason, for example forward selling placing shares, or simply selling because they are in profit after holding at a loss for years, take calculus who manage client funds via complicated products, they would have been holding when GDR was 7p, calculus will make their money from client fees, so while somewhat related to investment performance (because nobody is going to calculus if they always pick bad stocks lol), but their business model is not same as us private investors in the way we go about trying to make a few quid
