Nordic Calista 3 has an 11 inch BOP. Maximum weight of pipe is less than 500k with 10 line block. It is there in black and white. Running 9 5/8 casing to 10,000 feet at 47 lb/ft is putting the draw works at capacity with weight of casing in air. Any bit of sticking and trouble. Anyway Doing that is the presumption that every zone is the same pressure???

On one of their wells they used water based muds. I think the last one.
My main concern is getting all 4 zones in one drill. VERTICALLY. Each one should be isolated as drilled. With an 11 inch BOP the last casing string would have to be set at 7800 feet 200 feet above the first zone. So we set 9 5/8 shoe there. Fine.
Drill zone 1 and run 7 inch liner and cement. Drill zone 2 with a 6" bit, Run a 5" liner over that.
Tell me how to get to zone 3? Then tell me how to get to zone 4 please.
All zones have different pressures, Believe it or not the one below can be lower than the one above.

Scot, How are you? I am just stating a well design as I have done to you in a pub when we had FREEDOM! I never discussed with you horizontal drilling. When the Web air things arrives I hope that Darcon and yourself understand my questions. I have stated them already on this board.

Not meant at you. I am ****ed off with trying to figure out what they are attempting!!! I believe the Great Bear boys are 10 times better than Vision. Drill the vertical. Test each zone. Drill at 45 degrees but do not attempt to go horizontal in the top zone for what?
I do not get it. A very long time in drilling at the top level and I think wrong. Do the basics right and all is good.
What I would like to hear is they have drilled to Depth. Start testing back the way and have run out of time to do the horizontal.

Horizontal drilling is not the norm in an exploration well! Get yourself a bit of A4 paper and draw 2 straight lines 2 inches apart from the top to 10.000 feet. Put in your 4 zones over 2000feet at the bottom Then draw a line to 90 degrees at 8000 feet from the top and then tell me how you get from 90 degrees to vertical in 2000 feet. Work it backwards as well it is ****ing impossible. I have had enough of this mentally. Anyone that has actually drilled wells are quite welcome to state. Drill pipe does not go 90 degrees in a minute. You have to build angle.
MAX build angle is 3 degrees per 100 feet and that is pushing it.30 degrees in 1000feet. You have to get the casing in there at 80degrees and set the shoe and cement. Wireline logging does not work as you can not run a piece of wire at that angle. You run the logging tools on drill pipe and then figure it out!
Some on here read ****e on how easy this all is. It is not.
Last thing. They should drill this at 45 degrees max. Then decide. Wireline logging does not work past 60 degrees unless run with drill pipe.

Agree, all that happened here today have no reflection on Havieron. Those results are due next week. Panic sells and stop losses taken out of hands of people that sometimes do not think. Agreed. Drill the hole at some angle or vertically. It is an exploration well not a producing well. Need to see what is there. When I found out the horizontal was the top zone I was in shock.

I have come to the conclusion that they need to drill the top zone and test! After that cement it and drill deeper. I have not seen the drilling programme but I can not see how they can do what they are doing without casing windows and casing cutting and pulling casing to get back to 8000 feet. You can not hang a right!!! Some people will not like that but I have been spending days on this and spoken to a few people and agreed. Do the simple things. I am away to get slated here.

I hope they have lots of woolly liners and also casing liners they are going to need them. 3 zones in open hole!

Like I said before. There is no way they are going Drilling horizontally on the top zone. Forget that, That is impossible to do. I have thought for days since told. Bottom zone ok. Not top. No arguments I am telling you that zone will not be drilled horizontally! It is impossible to drill that way.

I have no idea of how they are going to drill this. If they are going vertical all the way to 10k feet. I would like to know how they can get a horizontal at 8000 feet. Refresher for the LTH. You loved it first time and even Scot when I met him in London. Tomorrow we start with the basics. It is not complicated. The kids and adults can get the maths. Whilst in lockdown go for Ally Drilling School. LOL
