Are we expecting newcrest results tonight or not? 6 weeks since last update.
I use free trade, much better than other free platforms. I'm sure some of the pay-per-trade services are better.
Agreed: LOTS of people just talking about individual trades and manipulation. Just ignore it FGS and hold. Super simple. Trying to understand it all is a pointless endeavour.
Thanks; i'm talking about the underlying dump of data (e.g. block, location, contents) that makes up the various plots in reports. Suspect not available?
Nice to see some level of support building around the 21.5p level; makes a change from the recent downward trend. I wanted to ask a question related to the method of calculating the initial resource estimate. I've seen mentions of a "blocking" technique when it comes to estimating the amount of PM in the ore body (i.e. split into equal sizes blocks and use drill data to give knowledge of its contents). As a newbie to mining data but someone who deals with data otherwise, I'm keen to drill (pardon the pun) into this data a little more; what are the best sources of such data or is it limited to that provided by GGP? Simialrly, it would be interesting to know what % of these blocks were included in the initial resource estimate vs. the total footprint of the known ore-body (assuming it doesnt expand further...). Apologies for the slight ramble, but I'm keen to spend some time doing some of the data analysis providing I can get my hands on it...
Morning all,
So I know we've had the MSCI and associated funds buying recently, and the upcoming GDXJ rebalance is still due (so more buying to come?!), but I've heard mentions of BlackRock buying in too - is this directly or via an MSCI type tracker fund they operate? Any insight into this purchase appreciated (and perhaps a link to that and the Sprott sell as well?). Just trying to understand the investment landscape as the big funds see it.
Cheers,
Mariner
It's the MSCI fund buying I believe, hence EUA/GGP rise.
Undoubtedly agree that it may not necessarily be a conspiracy; I guess my point was more that the magnitude of the buys didn't overtly seem to be matched by sells (although I'm not glued to the trades screen each day!). Agree that it could just be selling to match but was simply hypothesising as to why we've not seen obvious sell signals to match c.f. the Beetham sale.
Trying to move the topic on somewhat (agree with the sentiment that people should be free to do as they wish with their investment), there have been a number of big buys recently. It occurs to me that these shares must be coming from somewhere. Without a significant increase in the SP, could there perhaps be some director dealing soon to be announced? Or am I naive in my understanding of how the market works and is it quite possible that there is a cache of shares the MMs keep on hand to meet such orders. Any explanation would be appreciated. TIA
Thanks for the comprehensive reply; I'm a numbers man so appreciate the detail in your reply w.r.t. rebalancing calcs and the link to ownership. For clarity, is the recently announced position on the MISC Global Small Cap Index already been taken (i.e. shares already purchased) or does that work in the same way as the Vaneck rebalance i.e. it's been announced, but position will be taken in X days? Apologies for the continued questioning, but it feels to me that funds taking a position in GGP is really what is going to allow us to build to the next price levels. Private investors can only take us so far; the might of II getting involved can do dramatic things to an SP so it feels important to understand the landscape. Thanks again.
Thanks but there's some unrelated info there; my query was more a) which funds do we know are buying b) when does their buying have to be completed c) how many shares are they buying and d) is it done on one day like previous GDXJ buy or are they able to pre-buy ahead of the specified dates in b) ? TIA.
What are expected dates for MSCI / GDXJ buying into GGP? Could they explain the recent big buys or do they not normally "pre-load"? Cheers.
Going to assume you haven't been back....
good signs..
Brief dip of 30 dollars per ounce in gold. Volatility coming up... Let's hope for a smooth ride for GGP tomorrow.
From Grimsby! Small world..
That's the buy price - their sell price is generally ~0.5p below that giving a spread recently of 20-21p. You'll see the price on Google jumps around within this, but they keep the bid-ask spread wide enough to cover all these fluctuations.
Answering my own question looks like one of them is Marlborough Nano Cap Growth P Acc which specifically invest in high growth companies <100m. Suspect we have gotten a little too big for our boots here...
Looks like a few funds/institutions have reduced holding by 8,000,000 to 0 if I'm reading it correctly; probably explains some of the recent dip. Anyone have any further insights on these e.g. specific investment rules per fund?
I've seen this come up a few times and as someone who has used Freetrade and Trading212 I'm almost certain it's retail investors buying and selling these small amounts. Freetrade is pretty poor at displaying actual prices up to date, so I often used to buy and sell small amounts to see the actual bid/ask spread. Trading212 is a bit better, but with zero commission it effectively removes any barrier to dipping in and out at will. I think this shares inclusion on Freetrade coincided somewhat with the appearance of these trades.
