What we need though is for the Government to WAKE UP and accept that RR SMR will be one of the main suppliers and make an initial purchase now and stop farting about.

Britain risks squandering its role as a leader in mini-nuclear reactor technology if ministers fail to throw their support behind a key project, the boss of Rolls-Royce has suggested.

Tufan Erginbilgic, who took over as chief executive of the engineering giant last month, urged the Government to engage in talks about the deployment of its small-modular nuclear reactors (SMRs), or mini-nukes, programme.

He said: “We need to come to the table and work very seriously and sign an agreement for the deployment of the first project. First mover advantage will be important.”

Mr Erginbilgic’s comments came as he launched a strategic review of the business and said shareholders would not receive an annual dividend for 2022.

GE already have 4 orders for their BWRX reactor including 1 from Poland. RR SMR has a big fat zero. No thanks to the treasury and all those in UK Gov who are endlessly dithering. Great British Nuclear about as as pointless as the Test and Trace system.

I'm hanging around for at least a double or triple bagger. RR is more than capable of getting to £3 with normal flying hours and back to investment grade with buybacks & divis.

FTSE100 is trading at or near an all time high. What about years of inflation. FTSE all time high should be 15K..

Imagine getting back to 2019 flight levels but with the RR cost savings, engine fixes and reduced head count. SMR is irrelevant to a decent share price recovery though would be a lovely bonus long term.

The absurd thing is I bet most of these people in the department for BEIS don't live anywhere near of the licensed nuclear sites. What does it matter to them? The reality is that the locals want the jobs. There's a fair few ex Magnox workers who'd be more than happy working in a SMR and get a decent wage.
