Headline in UK Daily Mail today "Blackout Britain?"
Predictions of blackouts in the UK this winter due to shortage of gas and electricity due to dependence on "renewables" when the sun does not shine and there is no wind.
If the UK is short of power why would they send Ireland gas from Moffat? Surely they will want it all for themselves?
Article:
Families may be asked to cut their energy usage this winter to avoid blackouts if the weather 'doesn't go in our favour', an energy expert has warned. Kathryn Porter, an energy consultant at Watt-Logic has said that due to the replacement of thermal and nuclear generation with intermittent renewable's, such as wind power, weather variables such as a lack of wind could 'leave us vulnerable'. Speaking today on World at One on Radio 4, Ms Porter explained that it's 'very possible' the UK will see plans for energy rationing. With similar schemes in California and Texas - Ms Porter expects that authorities could ask consumers to reduce their use of electricity during certain hours and give advice on how that could be done. This could be anything from asking people to have dinner earlier or later and to avoid using larger appliances like washing machines during peak hours. 'I think it would be voluntary rather than compulsory', the energy expert said. "
Eamon Ryan lives in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks they will send plenty of gas on to us when they are short. They will want it all for themselves and we will freeze thanks to a nutter.
What a hypocrite. Ryan running for cover.
Where are his renewables credentials given the following as reported today in today's Irish Times under the headline "State seeks permission for emergency power plants".
"Meanwhile, Eamon Ryan, Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, has also applied to An Bord Pleanála for permission to build a temporary emergency gas-fired electricity plant on ESB property at North Wall in Dublin.
Documents filed with his application show the proposed plant will have six turbines and run from 2023 to late 2027."
And he is going to build it in a year.
And, given his comments on Tuesday, when is it ever the business of the government how much it costs to drill a well and his comments that 130 wells have been drilled in Ireland with 3 finds fades into total insignificance when you consider they drilled 6,000 in the North Sea.
What an absolute gob****e.

Barry Cowen, TD for Laois-Offaly is not too happy with, amongst others, The Department for the Environment, aka Eamon Ryan as he says they have all been "sleeping at the wheel".
Quote:
TD Barry Cowen says he is pointing the finger firmly at the axis of ESB, Eirgrid, the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU) and Department of the Environment.
The Department, EirGrid and CRU are “all asleep at the wheel”, Cowen told The Journal, stating that the generation shortage “has now spiralled out of control”.
Will he put pressure on Ryan when they hold the Energy Meeting which will be held on Tuesday 30th August at 12.00 in CR3 or will it be the usual bluff and bluster?
You can watch it live at

It seems Ryan refused a meeting with the developer who wanted to develop the LNG terminal in Shannon even though Varadkar met him.
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/billionaire-gas-backer-secured-meeting-with-leo-varadkar-about-shannon-project-after-eamon-ryan-turned-him-down-41940903.html
It seems numerous Fine Gael and Fine Fail politicians supported the Shannon LNG project. Will they vote against the government if it comes to a vote in the Dail?
I reckon one blackout in the winter and Ryan is for the birds.
Huge price increases in electricity and gas announced.
https://www.independent.ie/business/personal-finance/leading-energy-supplier-announces-massive-hikes-in-electricity-and-gas-prices-41939438.html
And Liz Truss announces she is going to permit "fracking" if she is elected. So will Ryan allow UK "fracked" gas to come to Ireland?
He has a lot of questions to answer tomorrow when he is quizzed. "Oireachtas committee will question the minister and the CRU at urgent meeting prompted by concerns over energy security ".
Will he finally be backed into a corner where he is truly seen for the gob****e he really is.
Looking forward to some interesting answers.
Interesting anomaly where Ryan is refusing to sign off on the lease but is still charging the license fees for the licenses.
In December 2021 he collected €27,407 for the six months ending then but for the first six months of 2022 he collected €309,472. These amounts were collected for "lease, licence or permit rentals".
So is Ryan collecting revenues for something he has refused to do? In my book, that is illegal.
People have forgotten that Providence does not own Barryroe. It was transferred to Exola and is still owned between Exola and Lansdowne.
And while Exola is a wholly owned subsidiary of Providence there is nothing stopping it being registered as a UK company if that could expedite a legal case against the DCAEE.
From latest report submitted by DCAEE, alias Ryan as minister, on 30th June 2022 to the Dail.

Potential next Chancellor if Truss wins has written today in today's he Daily Mail as follows:
-------------------
Setting out his views yesterday, Mr Kwarteng appeared to rule out a windfall tax on oil and gas companies, which he described as 'punitive'.
He also championed domestic energy production so the UK is no longer held to ransom by 'rogue petrostates'.
'We need to crack on with more nuclear power stations, back British-made small modular reactors, invest in cheap renewable energy like offshore wind, and lift the ban on shale gas extraction in England where there is local consent,' he said.
'We also need to maximise North Sea oil and gas production... I appreciate windfall taxes are sometimes popular. But popularity won't keep the lights on.' He added: 'Energy produced in Britain is by far the safest option.'
---------------
So, England will develop its own independent oil and gas and nuclear. Pity Ireland has a moron who cannot see the logic of that as he depends on others to keep him warm.
No wonder "donalb" you post so infrequently as your ability to do any proper research is obviously flawed.
If you had done your research before you "criticised" me by claiming "..when did you own declared $340 M claim become a $400 M claim" you would know that many figures have been bandied about regarding the possible financial claim Rockhopper are making against the Italian Government for compensation ranging from $340m to $400m.
Here are a few statements to support that, items you could have discovered yourself if you could have got out of bed and done some proper research rather than criticism.
Examples:
"Rockhopper is claiming up to US$350 million in damages".
"We’ve initiated arbitration proceedings to claim… at least all of the costs spent…
which is in the region of 40 to 50 million dollars, but ideally (also) the profits,
that we would have made had we been able to develop the field…
. The lost profits might easily add up to 200 or 300 million dollars."
"Worth noting that the $350m talked about previously is now $400m in relation to OM."
None of these are my comments and there are many more where the possible payment varies between $340m and $400m.
So an apology by you would not go amiss but given your infrequent posts I suppose we could expect one by Christmas at the earliest or are you too proud even to issue one.
Back to sleep, would be my suggestion.
It seems Ireland has already got one case in action under the ISDS arbitration with the Green Party's attempt to cancel the Canadian trade deal with the EU.
Seems this case could bring down the Government if enough Greens support it and lose their seats.
https://www.isds.bilaterals.org/?canada-trade-deal-ruling-could
"The Government’s majority in the Dáil could come under further pressure in the autumn with a Supreme Court judgment on Green Party TD Patrick Costello’s legal challenge to the EU-Canada trade deal expected soon."
Isn't politics one big bag of worms.
Obrina Mar decision due by August 23, 2022 - expiry of the 120 days - or statement that 60 day extension invoked.
People speculate decision at the last moment so Italy cannot request a legal challenge.
Rockhopper looking for $400m. If they get anything in that region watch Ryan run for cover over Barryroe.
Worth a read as it is a precedent for Barryroe and Ryan's intransigence.
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/jul/25/outrage-as-italy-faces-multimillion-pound-damages-to-uk-oil-firm
Article in yesterday's Irish Independent asks the question: "Government reshuffle: Leo Varadkar will become Taoiseach but which ministers could lose their top table role?"
And it continues: "The only thing that’s clear from the Programme for Government is that the Taoiseach’s Office will change between the leader of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael 10 days before Christmas .
For posterity, this is exactly what it says: “The leader of Fianna Fáil will hold the office of An Taoiseach from that point until December 15, 2022, on which date he will offer his resignation to the President and all parties and TDs supporting the Government will support the nomination of the leader of the Fine Gael Party.”
So, they will vote on whether Varadkar will become Taoiseach as it is clear it is not a done deal and will be voted on.
Given the parlous state of the Government with currently a majority of one that looks a very shaky proposition.
Will Ryan be offered a different role or will they get rid of him altogether to try and save the Government?
After all, recently the Government lost its majority so the voting for Varadkar in December could be a different story, especially as it seems the Independents are becoming a "block" in their own right and could easily bring the government down and certainly prevent Varadkar from becoming Taoiseach, if they voted in unison.
Fine Fail, Fine Gael and the Independents would have 36 + 33 + 24 = 93, a good majority whereas Fine Fail, Fine Gael and the Greens currently have 36 + 33 + 12 = 81, a majority of one.
A few blackouts or, as is being currently suggested, households losing power between 5pm and 7pm a few times and both Varadkar and Ryan are for the high jump.
Are you for the birds, by any chance?
Where did they say that "That just means that if you developed the field and got those sorts of flow rates per well (extrapolated for horizontal producer wells) that it would be commercial. "
Please inform us where O'Reilly or his spawn O'Sullivan ever said that especially when they said there were going to be 24 wells which equates, in your terms, to 84,000 barrels a day.
What they said in 2012 was "The analysis forecasts that a 1,000’ horizontal well could deliver an IP of c. 12,500 BOPD & c. 11 MMSCFD (c. 14,300 BOEPD) through a standard 4.5” outer diameter (OD) production tubing under natural lift."
Where did it say to be commercial they would have 3,500 bbls a day from 24 wells?
So where did you get your information from? "The Noddy Playbook", by any chance?
So please inform us of the "per well" information to be commercial at 3,500bbls a day which you claim was needed for Barryroe to be "commercial" as we missed that information somewhere.
ps200306 with nothing to do.
Please "quote" from the item "exactly" what Providence said that I misinterpreted.
Another report:
"Providence Resources has announced that its Barryroe well has delivered the first commercial flow rate of oil offshore Ireland. Barryroe is located at a depth of 100 metres in the North Celtic Sea Basin, approximately 50 kilometres offshore ."
Obviously you do not understand the word "commercial" and I would point out another oil field where it said it had a total of 10 "commercial" wells producing a total of 3,500bbls a day between them.
So, how is it that Providence, with a flow of 3,500 bbls in one hole is not "commercial"?
I guarantee that Ryan is convinced Barryroe holds a lot of oil and gas otherwise why would he not let Providence go ahead and develop it if he was convinced it was going to turn out to be a damp squib and he can be "justified" in his embargo?
You and Ryan are kindred spirits - both a pair of intellectual nobodys; in other words a pair of chumps - easily deluded.
ps200506, you really are full of the proverbial b/s.
Where does it say in the Providence report on Barryroe that all the guff you spouted was necessary to prove Barryroe was commercial?
O'Reilly made a bland statement that "Barryroe was commercial and if you read the headline in the following report that is "exactly" what is says; "first-commercial-flow-achieved-barryroe".
Vhttps://www.bus-ex.com/article/first-commercial-flow-achieved-barryroe
You really are buried up your rear end - get a life.
Can we sue either the Government or Barryroe for false information?
The document "https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/3bcaf-policy-statement-on-petroleum-exploration-and-production-in-ireland/" specifically states that:
"While there have been some discoveries of oil in the Irish offshore, to date none of these have been declared commercial."
But Providence declared Barryroe "commercial" back in 2012.
I would like to point out that based on the following statement from 2012 that we have all been led astray by Providence when they declared the Barryroe find commercial. Note:
https://www.bus-ex.com/article/first-commercial-flow-achieved-barryroe
On the back of this Providence's share price went to £6 and O'Reilly stung the market for $100m.
So, either this document is incorrect or Providence rooked the public. Take your choice.
This is old news and was announced on 30th June in the Irish Times as follows:
Larry Goodman increases Providence stake to 16.1% as key oil project remains in limbo
Irish oil and gas explorer awaiting go-ahead from Minister to develop its Barryroe prospect off the coast of Cork.
Beef magnate Larry Goodman has become the largest shareholder in Providence Resources, the Irish oil and gas explorer, after almost doubling his stake to 16.1 per cent in less than a week.
You can be sure Larry, like Menton et al. are waiting on the Rockhopper arbitration case.
Only another 12 days until the Rockhopper arbitration decision unless the board decide to extend by up to 60 days but I can't see any reason why they would need to. But who knows? At least we will have some indication by the 24th of August, the 120 day limit.
The board of arbitration have already decided that Rockhopper are due compensation but it now depends on "how much".
"Under the ICSID Arbitration Rules, the Tribunal has 120 days after closing to issue its Award, extendable by 60 days (Rule 46). The Company will update the market in due course."
The 120 days started on the 25th April and if Rockhopper gets any compensation over its $40m costs you just watch Barryroe fly as Ryan and his "two monkeys" on his organ grinder run for cover. Barryroe is already $200m under the Irish oil exploration rules so even that would be nice.
How does Ryan know that the gas we get from the UK is not "fracked" LNG?
There are 3 LNG terminals in the UK.
South Hook LNG, Milford Haven, South Wales
Dragon LNG terminal, Milford Haven, South Wales
Grain LNG, Isle of Grain, Kent
How much of this gas is fracked and how much ends up in Ireland. Ostriches with heads in the sand, comes to mind.
As you said the other day, ThenShen, the "Greens" are the new Catholic Church but don't start me on the Catholic Church as I have seen too many occasions where they "destroyed" the poor.
They use every trick under the book to "blind" the faithful to the reality and Ryan is the high priest of "B**sh*t, much as the Catholic Church led the people of Ireland astray for so long and, "out of fear", as the they obligingly "bull****ted" the ignorant as they traipsed along behind.
Who remembers John Charles McQuaid and then compare him to the brain dead Eamon Ryan. They have a lot in common even though thankfully McQuaid has long since passed on to pastures new/old.
After all, one of the great injustices of the Catholic Church was that they persecuted Galileo for saying the Earth went round the Sun and one of the latter day injustices was they condemned John McGahern for his book "The Dark" about abuse by religious in boarding schools and banned him from teaching In Ireland even today we all know that religious have been abusing children for years.
You can see in the following article a warning Ireland is in for a "hard" time this winter and it has the "face" of the pious king of the fairies (i.e. The Greens) plastered all over it as he uses his wood burner to heat his house in Dundrum paid for, I am sure, out of his inordinate Dáil salary.

Read and weep.
UK Threatens power cuts and blackouts in January.
You can be sure they will not be sending us any gas via the Moffat connection if they are in the dark.

This article wants you to sign in to the "law" website but I have come across a few salient points relating to it.
It says "A PR firm for Rockhopper declined to comment, citing the ongoing arbitration proceedings." We might get a decision on that one by the 24th of this month as its 120 days are up then.
But more relevant is the statement that:
"In Germany, officials agreed to pay €2.5 billion in compensation to Swedish energy giant Vattenfall and a number of other energy companies, with those companies, in turn, agreeing to drop their claims under the treaty. Uniper did not respond to requests for comment."
Now that is relevant as Germany realised it would lose so it jumped the gun and agreed to the compensation. Will Ryan put his back to the wall or will he and the government try and do a deal with Providence?
Hopefully not to long now before the "proverbial" hits the fan, I suspect.
