After a few years of hoping for the best, I am out of here. I can't see a way up other then some improbable new discovery or a cheap priced acquisition of producing assets...Maybe there is some value from these depressed levels but not for me....best of luck to those who have invested and are keeping on.
I have been in this stock for years now and it never seems to find a ground on fundamentals! The problem is that, no matter what happens, they can't manage to add reserves : actually the latest news implies a reduction of reserves and a diminished production. I can't see an upside and pondering whether to take the loss and get out. Anyone with any insight to potential addition of reserves or any other potential bright spots? Thanks
I agree with Dibs61: nice move by MdV but probably not enough
! What will it take to move the share price? I can't see any dividend paid: it wouldn't be good business for a company at this stage...maybe just time. If the gold production keeps at these levels and when debt is repaid then the value disconnect might be too great...but then we have a costly exploration program...
What is needed is real confidence in the company and the environment. From what I can gather there is confidence in AAU and its management (despite past missteps), on the other hand I wouldn't touch Turkey with a stick at the moment...but I make an exception because I had AAU (I know it's not logical...but ..)
I'm a long time holder, luckily in profit but with high hopes that keep getting smashed!
I keep hearing that this company generates cash but the reality is that it spends a lot of it too...I think we should all forget about dividends and/or buy-backs: the management has an option to strike it big with big exploration programs and that's where the money (our money! The shareholders'...) is going to go. They are paid very well and their compensation package will always be leveraged to future share price performance, so for them the best course of action is spend big however little the possibility of an oil find is. Maybe is time that we PIs get more vocal regarding dismal actual share performance as opposed to good hypothetical operational performance. I am a holder, averaged down twice, still almost 40% in the red at the moment.
I have been holding AAU for a while now, barely profitable at the moment (with no consideration for the value of time). I am still confident but there are a number of risks that will keep the price down until significant news is released: Turkey and some probability of capital controls, increased taxes/royalties, spiraling inflation; past mistakes not easy to forget in terms of surprise dilution and significant BoD salaries/bonuses; big spending plans on exploration (they said they consider themselves still an exploration company first); price of Gold has been decreasing for a number of years now....
All in all I am not surprised by this lingering where it is: there is a chart in todays' presentation comparing this to other explorer/developers and although there are differences, AAU doesn't seem completely out of sync with the rest.
IMHO what could really alter the picture in the short run is some good news form Turkey on the business environment...otherwise I think it will come out good but it will take sometime (end of 2019 maybe??)
Results were as expected or close to. Nice dividend: over 8% yield. Still no future development just a slow improvement in efficiency (better then nothing though...). Ridiculous Director buy for an amount of £540. A solid stock but nothing to get excited about.
I agree with Krok that just a corporate event or a tender for some asset can move this share. I patiently hold...maybe an increase in production and the further improvements will make the cash generation too big to ignore
What does the future hold for Volga Gas? It's owned by a Private Equity outfit and has been for over 10 years, very thinly traded, good production but smallish reserves...hasn't drilled a hole in a while...yes it does make money but not enough for a real dividend stream (maybe...just maybe)....
I have a feeling of a sound company but I can't see a real unlocking of the value anytime soon. I have been in this for a long time and I am starting to loose hope
Opininos anyone?
