KMH became part of GDI after acquiring 50% stake from Afromet Joint Stock Company owned by Russian businessman Vitaly Machitski’s Vi Holdings.

JSC Afromet pulled out of the Darwendale project in June 2022 after registering displeasure about financial management by its Zimbabwean partners to Mines and Mining Development minister Winston Chitando.

Mabhudu was suspended by the Munashe Shava-led ZCDC board for allegedly choosing to travel abroad without first fast-tracking the purchase of the KMH shares.

A suspension letter dated February 27 partly reads: “The temporary suspension was meant to ensure that the decisions relating to the ZCDC/GDI transactions are made in the short turnaround time possible. Despite you being fully aware of this position which was made in light of this critical assignment at hand, you proceeded to travel to Thailand.”

Mabhudu travelled to the Asian nation last week following Cabinet approval.

I would consider your theory unlikely..

Vast would certainly want the diamonds in their possession, prior to any future agreements.

The Russians have only been allowed a limited number of areas to mine, Zimbabwe want other western companies. There is risk so western companies are not queuing up.

Mark was previously terminated by the ZCDC and I believe faced court.

He has been suspended from the board, reasons unknown.

Before it's even implied... The diamond release was negotiated with the government not the ZCDC !!!

Do you really think that during the entire process of government negotiations to gain release of these diamonds, that no one from Vast or the government has thought to say.. let's just check they are still there.
Then at the next level that the court wouldn't be requesting evidence of what the parcel was... before the case was even scheduled.

Not the first time that Mark Mabhudhu has been terminated by ZCDC, he was their inaugural chief executive but that ended.

I would expect the company to RNS when they have the diamonds back in their possession.
The diamonds were removed their offices previously so it's highly significant and impacting on the company value when they have been legally returned.
It would be great to see a copy of the judgement online, as some key information would be included. I've not been able to find it so far from the Zimbabwe courts website.
Previously appeals were made by the supreme court, so it's key we are not going to face those again.
