Not sure you're correct there Scinv, I think this is a new article, essentially a summary of the findings from Nov but written specifically for the February edition of the Lancet Respiratory Medicine

My twitter question was a bit more subtle than that regarding treatment focus and interesting things in the pipeline. If the rumours re pre orders were genuinely widespread in the US, I doubt the SP would still be 1.79 but it might have accounted for the sudden rise a few days ago. Saying that, one of the initial executive orders signed by Biden calls for issuing a high-level plan for developing and testing promising COVID-19 treatments. The President calls for the secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to devise a plan supporting large-scale randomized trials and other studies able to identify promising treatments that can be “easily manufactured, distributed, and administered, both domestically and internationally.” In emphasizing the need for randomized trials, the provision highlights the administration’s emphasis on relying on science in medical decisions, as opposed to the promotion of untested products by the Trump administration.
I could very much imagine any trial done on the above basis would potentially include some discussions about pre orders otherwise what would be the point of supporting a trial if the product wasn't available and secured?
Kenneth, happy to have helped and fair play to Tom W for calling you. Really hope your parents are ok. Encourage them to do the breathing exercise regularly. Also consider buying them an pulse oximeter to monitor their oxygen levels as it's an easy way for you to keep an eye on them when you're not local. There are loads for sale on Amazon.
Nice, the Inhaled Nebulised Interferon beta-1a article is the featured article for this month as well so all this attention really helps.

Kenneth Tom Wilkinson confirmed his email as t.wilkinson@soton.ac.uk
Thanks all. I have an 86 year old father battling cancer at the moment so appreciate the challenge of worrying about a sick parent. Hopefully Tom Wilkinson can help somehow.
Kenneth
I reached out to Tom Wilkinson at Synairgen via Twitter. He responded straight away and said to email him the details re your Dad, waiting for him to confirm email but I think it's t.wilkinson@soton.ac.uk
Best of luck

@ProfWilko would you have any advice for a friend whose #Covid19 positive father is based on the East Coast of Scotland and hoping to gain access to #SNG001 via the MAP or Plll trial. Early days but he's very worried about him. Thank you.
Herd Immunity in Brazil hasn't happened in a city where they confidently had data to show 76% had immunity.

My understanding is that the NHS now has to prepare for the worst but hope for the best. It's one thing dealing with adult sickness and deaths but if children start getting ill and they're not prepared they'll be widespread panic. They've also become extremely effective at sharing information across trusts and being prepared for anything. That was the point of the virtual session, the pool knowledge and share information. Regular people have no idea how bad it's been and still is in many hospitals. This virus is a tricky little bugger. Personally, I think the Govt are absolutely bricking themselves about the Brazil type variants. You'll note the complete change of tone by Boris. He keeps getting questioned about easing lockdowns but isn't even entertaining the idea with his responses. I get the feeling they think this Brazil variant will evade the current immune response built up by so many people getting sick previously or the Vaccine programme in the UK. The comes from the fact it's currently rampaging through a Brazilian city (Manaus) that was supposedly immune.
It's very early days for this Virus, especially where Vaccines are concerned. We'll have to wait and see how the virus adapts (which it will) with the different varieties of Vaccines thrown into to mix. Could the number of Vaccines being used have a negative effect further down the line as the vaccine adapts against all of them?
I know Peadiactric Depts are worried about this, my wife was on an NHS Trust virtual meeting where they were discussing this just a few days ago.
This is the breathing exercise https://youtu.be/bBkGDIeQwXo
Just a thought but it appears Test & Trace have completely failed to create any effective process to ensure those that are supposed to isolate do and that is likely one of the causes of the UK being completely unable to control the virus. It's an utter shambles.
