Superb morning here, heavy dew being burnt off by spring sunshine – a garden / dog walking day.
Not sure what I’m watching this morning.
S - buy yourself a new keyboard - bet it's toast crumbs under the n
Have a good day everyone.
Morning all
Thanks for the info T - probably a day to largely sit on my hands then...although I am looking at some european shares. Wonder which hedge fund and whether others will follow, and will it be gametonkers blamed. It's like a soap opera.
C - tremendous relief for you all - be careful to watch him though and don't be afraid to go back if there are any worries. Presume he's been scanned and there's nothing 'loose' but still keep the brace on.
BTW - thanks for all the cgt input - I happily rid myself of some loosing iag on Friday and have bought back slightly more this morning.
Have a great day all
O – No millions here - the 7 figures was cumulative disposals over the tax year. Does the naked trader have illustrations?
S - Parsley Box – naff name, reasonable concept, pretty cheap, notably ambient so easy to store. Could be successful as long as they don’t let Eamon Holmes anywhere near the advertising.
I think someone should do a ‘hello fresh’ for oldies, with single person portions of traditional meal ingredients you make yourself with little to go wrong. Would keep a lot of people happy to feel they can still fend for themselves rather than succumb to the ready meal. Ping meals are bad for morale….even if you heat them in the oven.
I’ve just bought fevertree, think that’s me for the week too and to celebrate I’m going to pour a POETS G&T and open a bag of crisps. Wish the pubs were open – doesn’t feel like a proper Friday.
C - rofl as the young folk say. My 7 figures is disposals not assets. Buy, sell, buy, sell ...rinse repeat, I can soon make £5k's into £1m of disposals. (Would be nice if your interpretation was correct though)
I think (together with you) V & I are the smaller fry round here, and I think I'm smaller than V - the brigade is a broad and ecumenical church
T S V&C and everyone, thanks for all the help and musings
V – I have never sat on a gain for long. I don’t pretend to invest, found it complicates my thinking so I just trade. Consequently anything other than cash in my portfolio is shades of pink to redder than red. Found this v worrying at first.
C – Yes, you are darn right – My trading balance will be going straight into an ISA on new tax year day. Useful to know I will have to report although I will be below the threshold. Glad I did my workings in a spreadsheet - I imagine I can just attach a file. Pity the poor tax inspector trying to work out what’s going on. (Puzzled look – did this person really repeatedly bet £5k to pay the revenue c£25 to pay the broker £6 just to make £20?)
T – You’re right, I am v happy with my returns which represent lots of guilt free little luxuries. (& v appreciative of your help and cheerleading from all the brigade.) Yes – I took a massive, massive hit on IAG, but traded my way out of it over several, persistent months. Told you I was risk averse and I remain so – aint that contradictory?
S&T – I’m filing away all this useful philosophy for when it will come in handy. It’s like listening to pearls from master cabinet makers when you’re hurriedly banging together the shuttering for foundations with the wagon waiting to pour.
I sold my cine at 103 – highly delighted with that. (And will be even more so if it retraces to 95 this afternoon.)
I’ve been engaged in maths and rudimentary spreads to work out how I’ve done this tax year on my IG dealing account. Now I’m working out how best to make small strategic losses to keep myself just under the CGT level. Feeling pleased with myself. Do I need to report anything to the taxman if I’m below £12k?
Alarming to hear about your son’s incident C, but much better news later – what a roller coaster it must have been. Keep us posted.
Pleased that cine is shifting. Musing whether ‘the only way is up’ or whether to sell hoping for a sink and further rise. The joys of Betfred :-) Do any of you have views? I see you've sold T - expecting to rinse and repeat?
Sleeting and blowing a hooley here. Girding my loins, but not happy about it.
Have a great day everyone.
T - you're right, there's a load of 'uncertainty stuff' at the moment.
& that vessel in the canal is a corking problem - where's Red Adair?
Just had a 'chef's salad' - i.e. fridge contents with a shed load of mayo. very good it was too. Back to the mud pile.
Well done S! Always good when a fix is achieved.
T - very interesting - thank you. So, now it's time to sell, based on the contrarian market, good news - shares plummet.... speaking of which fevr is taking its time to climb back.
Blummin' crayzee this stock market.
My OH forwarded me a Times article on novice investors taking silly punts and not appreciating what they were risking. Tee hee....it's only your isa m'dear.
Morning briggers – I’ve barely moved this morning – feeling weary.
My activity -a little in and out on PFC, and in, but not yet out on cine, iag and ccl – alas, bought too soon. So it’s another close the lap top and walk the dog and come back later day. Quite enjoy these. There is a lot to do in the mudpile outside.
S – are you demolishing or building today?
O – looking at charges is a demotivator for me – I’m so tight. I make a point of concentrating on net. But maybe I will calculate how much I have paid HL, IG, the UK and now Spanish government in 20/21.
N – to fit in round here you need to look at your shares first thing – that’s where a lot of the action is :-)
T – keep us posted with any dog-gate developments
Have a good day guys
Good afternoon - sunny and very breezy here
T - that is horrid. If you are certain it's not the Ewok - ring the council immediately and tell them so. In England for council enforcement, occasional dog yaps are not an issue, persistent barking of say a dog left alone might be. Perhaps secure the cat flap overnight so you are confident. (Bet it's your naughty neighbours!)
Travel shares are providing entertainment - but no great riches - ha!
Enjoy the afternoon all
Morning briggers
Too busy in real life with needy relatives yesterday and probably today to be any kind of presence - but nonetheless interested in everyone's exploits.
This morning I've bought IAG, CCL, TUi and PFC - all probably too high, so now I'm going to close the lap top, walk the dog and see what happens.
T - good to see the ocdo rise - it's moving around, I'm sure you'll get your buy in.
S - sounds interesting - that's why you get involved, but often wish my 'interesting things' commitments could be confined neatly to downtime. Village life eh?
G - you are sounding like Senna the soothsayer - certainly good for me :-)
Have a great day everyone
T - I find many graphs unfathomable. I will have a look later...wondering which graphs to look at, different on each platform. Sad to say I love the one line T212 graphs. I used to like Lefkosia's interpreted graphs. (Not heard anything from / of him for a long time. Fears outweigh hopes - he reported having health conditions, but I hope otherwise)
Thanks T that's useful info - I expected fevr to bounce about this morning - but was expecting more positive movement. Seems to have over reacted to yesterday's update. I'd guess it is being manipulated.
S - I've got IAG this morning - bought 210.8 sold 213.5 and bought back again - small profits, but it's positive (more than I can say for fevr!)
Now - I'm off gardening. Composting and path reinstatement, thinking about seed sowing.
Here's to a fab day for all briggers whatever you are up to.
